Hello, last year, I had to travel tot he US from Canada due to a family emergency; my son was very ill (non-covid related) and resides in the US which is why I had to go an see him.

Even back then, it took a lot of back and forths to get the opportunity to have an interview at an appropriate time and place, as initially the only time available was a year from when I was applying and in a different and very far away province. From there, there was yet more opposition to come.

The visa I received back then was only 2 months to boot, and as such it has already expired. I would like to visit my son again to see how he has been; he is doing much better since my last visit when he had surgery, so this visit wouldn't really be an emergency, but I would like to be there for him nonetheless.

I am worried however that the process will be much more challenging and I will not be able to get an appropriate interview date and location let alone obtain the visa itself. As such, I am curious if anyone else has attempted to apply for a US Visa and how it went.

Finally, I should mention that I am a Canadian Permanent Resident and not a citizen.

So you are looking to visit and not immigrate?

As I understand it currently most if not all US Consulates are not processing B Visa applications. Presumably you do not qualify to use the VWP.

You are presumably aware of Canadian Quarantine requirements.

Most Visa's are issued for 10 years, makes me wonder why yours was for such a short period.
