I have travelled

It is not common to have issues entering.

I was sent to secondary, used mine to go on Holiday, twice.

Has anyone on this site travelled on advance parole? Is is common to have issues when re-entering US? I dont know what to believe anymore.  Please share your experiences. Thanks!

My husband travelled twice using the AP, both times over the land border between Washington state and BC, Canada.  The first time I was with him and there was no problem.  The second time, he was alone and was harassed enough to not want to travel on the AP again.  He had only been in Canada for a couple of hours, dropping off his daughter at YVR for her flight back to New Zealand.

I recommend travelling with your petitioner if you must travel.

Did not make any difference, just me in Secondary.

If you can hold it, i would advice you to travel after you get your green card. Technically speaking, as a green card holder, you have a status and you will not have any issues getting in. For advanced parole, you are on authorized stay and not having any status. A stupid officer can decide to terminate your AP and deny you entry and there is nothing you will be able to do. And with what we have seen the last 4 years, there are some risks that are not worth taking if you can avoid. In short, use your discretion.

A officer can not terminate anyone's AP.  CBP doesn't have the authority to terminate AP, a green card, or anything else.  The person can be sent to secondary for further questioning.  That's it.

What do you mean by saying what we have seen in the last 4 years? Do have any examples or know people that travelled on i131?

You are correct. They definitely don't have a power to do so. I have been sent to secondary questioning before when I was living in Europe ands visiting my husband, I had to wait 4 hours for an officer to question me but I had my marriage certificate and even my health insurance card and they let me go with no problems. I guess it is all about holding valid documents. If you can show them a proof of your pending i485 and marriage certificate I dont think there should be any issues?

A GC holder can also be sent back. Only US Citizens have guaranteed entry and can't be denied.

Saying that 2 people were denied entry with AP without telling the whole story is not fair. I'm sure there's something behind the denial. Thousands of people use AP everyday, 2 is almost nothing.
