In that case, who would be the interpreter? If the foreign spouse who lives overseas is not fluent in English, does he/she need to hire a certified translator in order to u understand the form or can the preparer who usually happens to be a US spouse also be the translator?

You can leave the interpreter blank.  Who would be the interpreter if you both speak only English???

None, but in that case the beneficiary would select that he/she understands English and he/she would also be the preparer so nobody else has to fill that part. Most of us prepare that form since the spouse is not fluent in English; otherwise, they could just do it themselves.

Leave interpreter blank if Petitioner is preparer.

Hi all. I am continuing with the I-130 after a delay of a couple months caused by the need to get my wife's passport renewed. So we're moving forward once again. My next question in applying online for the I-130 has to do with the information I provide regarding my step-daughter. Where it says "Are you submitting separate petitions for other relatives?" I am unclear where it says "what is your relationship to this relative?" whether I should put parent or child. As I read it, it seems that I should select parent (since I am a parent to my step-daughter), but I'm wondering if I'm misunderstanding it and should select child instead (since that is her relationship to me). Can anyone clarify that for me?
