Hi Guys,

I'm currently in the process of collecting civil documents to submit to NVC for processing. Do you guys have any suggestions or know what I can do in terms of obtaining a Police Certificate from Canada RCMP while in the US? I've read through a few posts and know that I need the documents below and ensuring I select the proper request type. Any suggestions on services that might be available in the US that can help me obtain these documents without flying back?

  1. Certified Criminal Record Check under the Privacy Act
    1. Privacy Act Request Type: Other (Provide Details)
      1. DO NOT SELECT "VISA/BORDER CROSSING" as the purpose of the request
  2. RCMP National Repository Entire Holdings

You will need to have prints taken at local police station and then mail to an agency in Canada who can certify them and submit to RCMP (such as the Commissionaires). http://www.thecommissionaires.com/index.cfm/identification-services/international-fingerprinting-service-forms/

Good luck!

If you don't want to use The Commissionaires, you can also email CCRTIS-SCICTR@rcmp-grc.gc.ca for a list of accredited private fingerprinting companies approved by the RCMP.

Thank you KAP2019! I got an email back from CCRTIS regarding my options but they are all Canadian based. However, I’m sure some of them allow you to send in fingerprints to them for processing like the Commissionaries. I tried calling the Commissionaries but wasn’t able to reach a person so left a voicemail. I’m wonder if you or someone on here knows, how do I ensure that both of those documents will be provided? And also the request type is “Other (Provide Details)” What I read on the commissionaries website is that they will transfer the fingerprints to digital and provide a Certified Criminal Record Check but there’s no info on the request type option or the RCMP National Repository Entire Holdings. Any ideas? Much appreciated!

leave commissionaire an e-mail. They will send you a e-packet with all details. You need to get fingerprints (in US), fill up forms and send them to Ottawa. In one of the forms you can also specify the type (Other (Provide Details)).
