Hello all,

My case in Jamaica went into administrative processing because I needed a joint sponsor based off of my 2019 Taxes. In 2020 my income doubled and now I don’t need a joint sponsor. However, I have already submitted an AOS for the joint sponsor after the interview last year. My case has been in AP for six months just so they could review my joint AOS paperwork. I have been trying to reach since the beginning of the year for guidance on whether I need to submit a new AOS with my new income and documents. I want to remove the joint sponsor so my case can get approved but every time I call or email I can’t get a reply. What should I do? I have already done my taxes for 2020, I’m just waiting for IRS to accept them.

JA looks at more than last years income.  Only the embassy can tell you if you need a joint sponsor or not.  Proof of income you will need for 2020 is 6 months of paycheck stubs, your W-2's, and your income tax statement.

Have you emailed the AOS docs to kingstonivdocuments@state.gov? You may use kingstoniv@state.gov to follow-up on your case but your AOS docs need to be emailed to the other address. Your case as is now, will be based on your 2019 taxes. I believe your 2020 taxes would not be requested unless your case goes beyond April 2021 without a decision/conclusion.

Before 2019 I made well over the guidelines every year.  I had a baby in 2019 and that was the reason for the decline income for that year only. After the interview I was told I needed a joint sponsor because the new baby put me under the guidelines. I submitted that paperwork the next day last August. So I was hoping they would see that I no longer need a sponsor because my income is back to normal. I just didn’t want to start submitting paperwork and complicate things.

I did all of this before in contacted them. They responded and said they received it and that my income is enough. Yet I’m still in administrative processing because all of their medical and police certificates are Expired. They are supposed to be sending back the passports so we can redo medical and police. I still haven’t gotten the passports back yet. It’s so unfair how they put cases aside until they feel like checking them.

I'm sorry for the delay. Keep the faith, delayed is not denied. Many of us have experienced a delay. Everything will work out in due time 🙏🏾
