Purchasing Ticket???

What is needed to purchase a ticket at a US travel agent for your fiancee in another country, to fly here? I would like us to be on the same flight home.

I could be flippant and say that you need money!

But, if I recall correctly, there used to be restrictions that prevented such transactions. Is there any way that you can cootrdinate the purchase somehow, with your fiancee handling the booking through an agent at her end, who is on the phone talking with your agent?

That's pretty much how my fiancee and I did it when she came here with me last year.

Did you talk to the agent about booking a round trip for you and a one way for her? You could also look into buying her ticket there. Claudeth bought her's in the RP and saved me a good chunk of money (Of course she has since spent the savings )

All jokes aside, I have read many posts here and other places that a US citizen bought their ticket (Cash, CC.... ) for their fiancee from the US. Do you need a photo scan of their passport? Or other documents to prove they are traveling here to buy them a ticket. I am looking to buy both round trip tickets for her and I. One way for her is $300-$500 more then a round trip.

i just bought my fiances ticket from expedia...i just needed his name and the country that his passport was from...... i used my credit card and such and they emailed us the tickets....it was very simple.

When I paid for my husband to come to Australia from USA, what the agency had to do was buy a ticket from a USA agent. It cost a little bit more due to USD/AUdollar Conversion + the agency adding their own fees.

Plus, as stated before, knowing their PASSPORT name is a must. If it's Julie-Anne on their passport, but you just call them Anne, putting it down as 'Anne', will get them a 1 way ticket back home from their airport, so just make sure that's correct.

Course, this is USA to Australia, not sure what would be needed for other countries. Ask your agency about it. If they don't know, I wouldn't give my money to them anyway.

Hello all!

Does anyone have any advice for me and my Russian fiancee? I plan on flying over after her interview and then we try and buy a round trip ticket for her at the airport...say with Delta(this is who I have used twice now to fly to her, it was great and I thought the prices were ok but fuel prices have recently caused the fare to rise a good bit). Is it possible for me to exchange my return ticket for another one when we buy her tickets so we can share the same flight home? What is the best way to do this?

Whether you can change your ticket depends on the class of ticket you bought originally. There will probably be fees, their magnitude again depending on the type of ticket you bought. ("Class" here does not mean Coach, Business, or First, by the way.)

My fiance got her visa on September and we decided to enter the States, together, in November. I bought her tickets and brought them to her -- we met in Moscow. No problem buying the ticket. Of course, I knew her name as it appeared on the passport and that's what we told the airline companies.

This is one of the easiest parts of the process.

Thanks for the reply. Her interview is this morning in Moscow and I am waiting to hear word(actually I will call her). So if all goes well I will buy my tickets and her's at the same time so that way we know for sure there will be no problems leaving together on the same flight. At least I hope so anyway.

Got my fingers crossed and she is very well prepared.
