I submitted all the required documents at NVC they checked and accepted everything but they said i should get a joint sponsor. My questions is can i still be scheduled for an interview even if i dont provide it at NVC stage. I was thinking i should just take it along to the interview.

NVC might go ahead, and put you in the queue for an interview.  If they do, then just take the joint sponsor I-864 and supporting documents to the interview.  The consulate officer is the actual approving authority for visas.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Since it will be a long time before the interview can be scheduled as so many are head of you,  why not just get the joint sponsor documents ready?   it takes time to get IRS transcripts these days

and if your case is still  at NVC when you get the supplemental I864 and tax documents,  then send a copy to them and the origianls to the person in Nigeria as the mail is also slow

Take copies of them before you send them out for your own records as things get loss and misplaced

BTW  all the pages of any documents you submit and/or mail should be labeled in the upper right hand corner with the case #,  both names, and both DOB's (ALL PAGES)

How long ago did you file your petition? When did you get notice of interview? I’ve been at the NVC for a year now and looking for a glimmer of hope

I finally got Documentairly qualified. I had to provide the joint sponsor. Im waiting for interview letter now.

It appears though that you are filing as a spouse not a fiancé. It’s the fiancé visas that they have not really started processing. Marriage visas are being processed
