Hi there’s been something that I’ve been wondering throughout this whole cr1 visa process. Why is it that we have to submit the same forms (civil docs) at different times? Doesn’t the paperwork we send with I-130 from uscis get sent to NVC then to the consulate?

You would think you would only have to submit everything once, but since you are dealing with two to three different federal departments (DHS, DOS, and DOJ for stuff like background checks), they all have their own ways and requirements.  So to answer your question as to why the same forms have to be submitted multiple times at different stages, it is all about bureaucratic inefficiency.

USCIS and the Department of State are 2 entities which conduct two different processes.

So will all the documents we sent to uscis be sent to the consulate for the interview? Just asking because we sent evidence (pics, plane tickets, etc) with our I-130 and we don’t want to bring duplicate evidence to the interview?

I would take duplicates.......along with evidence of continued communication.  Evidence of actually being together is the best evidence you can provide at this point.

Now that USCIS is accepting a copy when you file the petition,  the original has to be produced at the embassy stage so things like court embossed stamps can be checked

 

think of it this way with all the programs out there online anyone of us could make up a fake birth certificate,etc

 

EXample:   a young man that use to work for a well known fast food company and was fired , copied the signature on his last check,  copied the company logo from a bag and made up $1500 worth of pay checks before he was caught

 

it isn't hard to make up or forge these documents

And immigration deals with several countries that are famous for fake documetns

 

and NVC doesn't ask for the same documents that you send to USCIS
