Wow - this looks pretty spectatcular - fabric made with fiber optics:

I would love an evening dress made from this.

Cool!

But I was wondering how much would they sell it a piece, say the top? They only offer wholesale if I browsed right..

I'm amazed, it is after all more difficult and more expensive to splice than wires, but glamorous! :D

I've seen stuff like that before, except in fur instead of in normal fabric. It's battery operated, if I recall, at least the fur was... and it left me wondering how you'd wash something like that.

It does require a battery to operate, but it is apparently hand washable according to the FAQ. You remove the battery, wash the fabric by hand and stretch it flat to dry - much like silk and other fine textiles. I think they haven't got into the major production and marketing of the fabric yet but are still looking for prospective sellers, which is why it is only available wholesale right now. Hehehe a dress made of that fabric would give a whole new meaning to 'You light up my life".

Well, no. You have to provide the batteries yourself.
