Hair today... there tomorrow! Woman reveals she set her hair with GORILLA GLUE after running out of hairspray and hasn't been able to move it for a MONTH - despite washing it 15 times

@Steeleballz says we recycle the same topics over and over, so here's a new one (crossover with the Beauty Thread AND a Daily Mail update for Boiler, so this is a threefer):

'When I do my hair, I like to finish it off with a little Göt2b Glued Spray, you know, just to keep it in place. Well, I didn’t have any more Göt2b Glued Spray, so I used this: Gorilla Glue spray. Bad, bad, bad idea.'

She then patted her head to show how the glue spray has turned her hair into a stiff, immovable helmet.

'Y'all look, it don't move. You hear what I'm telling you? It. Don't. Move. I've washed my hair 15 times and it don't move,' she insisted. 'Stiff where? My hair.'

Tessica ended her video with some words of advice: 'If you ever, ever run out of Göt2b Glued Spray, don’t ever use this. Unless you want your hair to be like that forever.'

Firstly I would like to thank you for doing this just for me :). Secondly I'm actually surprised there is anyone out there the wouldn't have recognized how bad of an idea this was prior to adding the glue. Finally I really hope she doesn't have any other issues, but I suspect she will. Skin and glue don't mix well, and there is not a whole lot of skin on the top of the head. She may have other problems ahead.

But other than that, incredibly funny.

You're welcome! She had to go to the hospital, apparently.

I am sort of surprised Twitter exists for posts NOT by Andy Ngo. :P

Everyone knows that Instagram is where you find beauty tips.

The first part was, but there are cases of people doing so much damage with crazy glue that they needed a skin graft. I'm not sure if gorilla glue is the same. It's the acrylic products that can cause severe burns after they bond to skin. Anyway, it might be less funny in the end than it first appeared.

At the risk of straying into the Beauty Thread, I find it a mixed bag over there. I love Tati Westbrook, who's considered one of the OG beauty YouTube stars, but I'm biased. She's a friend of a friend  -- she met my friend at a Pilates class in Sherman Oaks, which is about the most LA thing I have said today.

Most people learn not to do this by Kindergarten. I'm not even being judgmental or anything, because I'm sure I've glued my fingers together more times than most people, but I've never done it intentionally.

That's kind of on topic, and it is your thread. There's no better time to stray.

I don't know how you can get to "any old glue will do" from "I'm out of hairspray called Got2B Glued." I remember my sister and I hearing when we were really little that you could use egg whites to stiffen your hair, and she used me as a guinea pig. It was a mild disaster (we used a carton of egg whites and poured it over my head) but it washed out pretty easily.

Could a Mod move this to the Beauty Thread?

NOOOOO!!!

As the OP of both threads I really think we could focus on the current events aspect of this topic, thankyouverymuch.

I'm trying to think what the current events aspects of this thread are, besides the fact that it's happening currently.

That's enough to qualify for the current part, and we are talking about this a lot, so it's also a hot social topic too.  For the moment anyway :).

I'm not sure we can sustain it though. I think I've already said everything I know about both glue and hair.

Or get its OP for spamming this forum?

The inability to change hairstyles every day is certainly traumatic for some (or many) women.

Some do it with use of wigs.

Now back to such discussions, but in The Beauty Thread.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
