The trees won. I took the pool down. We beat the rain thought so that's a plus. Kids are happy they can see the chickens again. 

 

Had to separate the newish polish chicks, silkie, Mille Fleur D'uccle and Houdan from the big coop. The big hens were not letting them in their club. Our Head Hen passed away a few months ago and the coop is still in chaos with their pecking order. For the little hens safety we put them in the smaller coop again. They are much more happy away from the bullies.

Thrilling Friday report, see man:

 

Stayed late at POTS office finalizing exclusive contract to supply yet another medium-sized country, officials and populace there overjoyed man.

 

Went to non-Aldi supermarket for most of weekend shopping, #2 cheapest but not close man.

 

Returned to casa quite late, so obviously no nap, no zzz for we man.

Displeased needy miu displeased and needy, miu displeased and needy man.*

       *this sentence merits enshrinement in the pantheon of All-Time Most Redundant VJ Posts, si man

 

We planned on early bedtime anyway, arise at o'dark-Many for community GSs man.

Husband home tomorrow at around noon.   4 weeks is a really, really long time to be apart after spending so much time together over the past 18 months. He did go back to the UK at Christmas for about 3 weeks, but this felt far longer than just an additional week apart.

I have to share this story of what happened to him the other day when he went for a run -- it's hysterical. So the other morning he went for a morning run to the forest and back, but decided to stop in the town his family's house is on the edge of on the way back to get a coffee, and then walk the last mile home. It wasn't a very warm day, but it was very humid and mizzling, and he'd gotten quite sweaty. He stops for a coffee and sits down on a bench to drink it, perusing his phone for the news, emails, and so on. About 10 minutes later he gathers himself to walk home, and as he gets up he notices someone had left two pound coins on the bench next to him! He told me he was wearing normal workout clothes but he was probably a bit smelly and definitely very sweaty. However, he was pretty sure he didn't look homeless and in need of a small donation. I asked him what he did with the money and he said he put it in his pocket and left. "This is a rich person's mentality," he said. "Never give up free money."   I said when he gets back, I might put him out on the corner and see if he can make some more.

4 weeks is a long time. I can only stand 3 when I go back home, but then I am staying with my parents and they both smoke like a chimney. Now they also moved to an apartment with no balcony so that won't be able to smoke outside.

Went long way for a supposed community GS, hopeful we man.

An advertised MS (moving-sale) was phantom, grrrr man.

Went long way to first of Many (2+1) ESs, itineraried man.

Lost more than half an hour in construction gridlock, grrrr man.

First ES a dud, dud man.

Second ES yielded the take of a joke book = half a buck, deal man.

Lunch at favorite FST restaurant was huge chicken-fried steak, double green beans, 2 rolls, ingest we man.

 

At end of GS/ES itinerary, ran local errands, efficient we man.

Arrived at casa at half-past 2, long morning man.

Skies were threatening, incipient monsoon man.

Hurriedly dropped stuff in casa and changed for mow-lawning, alacritous we man.

 

Began mow-lawning, waste no time we man.

Clouds disappeared and bright, hot, humid weather ensued, of course man.

Consumed Many (2+1) sweatbands, 2 job 1 recovery man.

Consumed nearly a gallon of Gatorade, hydrate we man.

Recovered under ceiling-fan for half-of-half an hour, drenched we man.

 

Showered, then napped for nearly 2 hours, zzz we man.

Awakened by highly vocal miu on stomach, intrusive talking miu man.

Served miu Fancy Feast Petites (grilled chicken flavor), shut up miu we man.

Miu unmollified, vocal miu man.

Played "toss the miu toys" with miu, partially mollified miu man.

Repeated process TWICE more during evening, demanding miu man.

 

Din-din was can of chicken-noodle soup from last week's ES, take what we ingest and ingest what we take man.

 

Dangled feather-pole for miu to attack, energetic demanding unmollified miu man.

Miu now jockeying for another toss-the-miu-toys round, satisfy miu we man.

This is what fathers do for their children, good Cat-Daddy we man.

He is home and not as fat as advertised.  It's just a relief to have him at home with me at last, snoring like his life depends on it in the other room. I won't lie -- I did enjoy having a chance to be focused on my parents for a change. The last time I lived at home I was basically a kid who thought she knew everything at the age of 23, and now I have so many questions to ask them because I know I really don't know a lot. And for all me talking about how I let them baby me, they also did have a chance to see me as an adult, and have some difficult and important conversations with me without any distractions. Just getting to slob out with my dad and my Uncle Guy, both horror aficionados like me, and watch every movie in the Conjuring universe over a weekend was a small vacation.  

 

But in the end, here I am again with my husband in a town clinging to the edge of the continent and there is nowhere I think I'd rather be. Even with the snoring.

Got far too little zzz, nights too short man.

Lunch was (unexpired) canned pinto beans from an ES, ingest we man.

 

At Many p.m., picked up Mini-B. and Cousin Mini-B., Many (2+1) Guys man.

Did one each of the Manytember Home Despot children's project, accomplished with ease man.

 

Set M-B. and CM-B. to casa-cleaning, eager to earn $ wee men.

CM-B. was to sweep & vacuum and M-B. was to help, move stuff & guide vacuum cord wee man.

CM-B. had far more of a work ethic than did M-B., eyeroll man.

M-B. got miffed when we paid CM-B. more, relative effort man.

 

Din-din was salad, Costco salmon fillets, and Favorite Small Town apple pie, ingest Many Guys man.

 

AFV was watched, Many Guys man.

CM-B. returned to Ex-Mrs.-T-B.'s casa, good time had by all man.

 

Long story read in February 1ManyManyMany issue of Jack and Jill magazine, pleased wee man.

In-bed book about Lewis & Clark begun, fascinated-but-exhausted wee man.

 

Except for the completely unnatural act of casa-cleaning, a good bachelor day, whee man.

 The Past Week in Review

 

Haven't been around much lately since we had "vacation" last week.  Well, actually spent the last week at the national Plymouth Prowler (see my profile pic) event in West Virginia.  There were 65 of us with our cars prowling the wild and wonderful mountains.  We are exhausted, or at least I am.  I did all the driving which added up to almost 3000 miles.  Over 1000 miles each way to and from the event trailering the car, and around 900 miles in the Prowler while there.  Did the same last year in Texas, and next years event is in Carlisle PA.  On top of that the folks in the south east are expecting me to put together a long weekend event here in FL.

 

I just need a little time to recoup.
