We went through all of the scenarios and names....his given name will remain the same (I will still refer to him as "R") he's now just choosing a middle name (he didn't have one before).

Sold Many,000,000 Pre-Owned Toilet Seats yet again, yet again $$$$$$$i man.

 

After that, went to resale store to buy clothes on discount for Mini-B., up-growing wee man.

Got him Many (2+2+2+1) short pants,  a long pants, and Many (2x2x2+2+2) shirts, select we man.

With discount, all above came to $Many ($2x2x2x2x2+1), take that man.

 

Din-din was Burger King (with use of coupon) down street from store, ingest we man.

 

Insistent miu has sat in our lap twice and kissed us Many (2+2) times, ulteriorly-motivated miu man.

Mine is heading out for nearly a month on Saturday.  I'm going to miss him a ton. I'm going to go stay with my parents for a big chunk of the time he's away. Their house is closer to my office anyway, so at least there's that. Also I get to be cooked for for a change! When I go home, I admit that my parents baby me and... I enjoy it.  There's something nice about having someone else do your laundry and stock the fridge with whatever you want. When I wasn't living near my parents, I got to enjoy this sort of "Queen of Sheba" (as my older sister calls it) pampering more frequently; now that I'm nearby, I haven't really had any chances. Yes, I know it's very spoiled of me but hey, I don't ask for it, it's just given to me, and I don't want to be rude. My dad texted me today to say he was going to Costco tonight and to send him a list of what I want in the fridge. This is basically me when I go back:

In place of Ontarkies missing update on chickens, one from me will have to do. After losing 7 out of 8 hens to the very fat (now no longer present ) raccoon, 8 new little cheepers have arrived in the post 😁. I never learn I guess. Remaining hen is slowly recovering from her trauma and is much less skittish. Eating from my hand again today. No egg laying though ..don’t blame her !! and she is forgiven if she never lays again. 12 weeks to redo the chicken run to prevent a repeat.

I really had no idea racoons would go after chickens.  We are on acreage and my wife did mention (but I thought she was joking) about getting some.  Problem is we have so many racoons and coyotes here, and some bobcats too.  Poor chicks probably wouldn't stand a chance.

We’re on 11,ac in SW Missouri…. backing onto Mark Twain forest.  My run was safe and predator free  for 18 months with 8 happy hens and 3 dozen eggs each week . No free ranging outside of the run though as foxes will take them in the middle of the day .. just not sure what changed …

Finished the reno.  Been totally re-plumbed, mostly rewired. Now trying to organize and find a place for the stuff I didn't biff. I still have stuff do do outside, but I ain't doing that when it's still so hot.

We stagger on here. I see NZ is back in lockdown, due to a heap more Covid cases, so getting back there anytime soon is out of the question. Getting into Canada looks not so straightforward either.

Crazy preacher family  out by the road want to buy the place. For their two daughters, both in their 20's living at home of course.  He wants them where he can keep an eye on them.

Drug house new people have a stereo, which they drag out on to the front porch and rattle the windows down here. Preacher's kid got a motor bike for his last birthday, and spends hours driving around and around their property, which of course surrounds mine. Can't say I'll be sorry to leave. Himself really loved it here, but times change.

The stuff is expensive but it is raccoon, weasel and opossum proof. Cattle panel is good for your bigger predators. 

 

We live in the city so only have hawks, opossums and raccoons maybe a neighbours dog if they figure out how to jump 6 foot fences. I completely enclosed my coop and run. As long as a bear doesn't find them we should be good. Hardware cloth all the way up.

2 Rhode Is red chicks (my last remaining hen is a 2 yr old RI red) and 6 Australorps ..yes my heritage is showing ! Meyers hatchery in Polk OH .. hatched Sunday, in the post noon Monday and in my hands noon Tuesday. Teeny 2 day olds !! Grandkids are loving having new chicks again

That is awesome I love both of them. We only have the 1 red and then a bunch of others. I think that is what we will do when we start over. Daughter has been reducing our flock some down to 27.
