I hope someone here can tell me if I've lost my ever loving grip. A friend of mine has just told me, he has received his "package' from his  paralegal. He is off overseas in two weeks  to visit the future wife, and says he is going to hand deliver this to his Immigration attorney in her country?

"This is the petition we are going to file with USCIS for the Visa for her to come to America. After it is filed it will be approximately 6 months for them to approve it and turn it over to the US Embassy to grant us an interview"

That seems a short time, presently. And why would he not sent the blessed thing to the Dallas Lockbox?  I've been out of the loop but this seems bizarre to me?

Which petition?  I-129F for K1?  Or is he going to get married on this visit, then file the I-130 for his wife-to-be's CR1/IR1?

If I-129F, believing that it will be approved in around 6 months is delusional.  Current estimate is around 15 months, just for the petition stage, excluding wait time for consulate interview.

If I-130, 6 months for petition approval is possible, though very optimistic.  12 months would be more realistic.  But who knows, your friend could get lucky.

Are they Ukrainian?  If not, your friend is severely misguided if he thinks the petition will be approved in 6 months.  Tell him to expect the K1/K2 visas in late 2024, if he's lucky.

No, they aren't Ukrainian. Can't tell a dill pickle nothing. I am more concerned that he is taking this packet overseas, instead of sending it off. I don't understand why his paralegal here, and his lawyer there, are both thinking this is the way it's done.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Maybe the lawyer won't get paid if your friend realizes he can actually mail the package himself?

He is only creating a delay.  He is just one of those people who won't listen. As far as I am aware, they still go to the lockbox. Not to a foreign country. Sheesh.

Rant, grrrr man:  The minimum speed limit within a Many00-mile radius of any airport should be Many00 miles per hour, and with no red lights, grrrrRRRRRR man.

Made our flight, hairy man.

Rentalmobile place had 2 vehicles, not unusual we hear man.

One (meant for us) was undergoing detailing, too long to wait for man.

The other, which they gave us, was a bleeping Chevy Tahoe, [censored] man.

It was too big to park anywhere, egad man.

We got a wedgie every time we managed to clamber into it, ouch man.

And it has pull-tabs rather than a joystick for shift-gearing, good grief man.

Rentalmobiled from airport to favorite thrift store, mandatory stop on discount day man.

Got Mini-B. Many sleep-shirts and some school shirts, deal man.

Went to second thrift store, mandatory stop man.

Got Mini-B. a t-shirt with "Powered by Fries" on it, picture of French fries man.

Went to Many'rd thrift store, almost nothing there man.

Donated a bag of Mini-B.'s outgrown/damaged clothes there, get it out of town man.

Lunched at premier Mexican restaurant, ingest we man.

Got there at Many (2+2+2) minutes before noon and had a Many-minute ([2x2x2+2]-minute) wait -- for lunch on a Tuesday, good grief man.

Checked in at motel, the Super Many (2x2x2) man.

Only the "handicapped" room available, our possible future man.

Drove to Mexico, 2 p.m. man.

Parked on U.S. side and walked over, weather not too hot for that man.

Made beeline for barber, Many weeks overdue for cut-hairing we man.

Cost was $Many ($2x2x2 -1), financially savvy we man.

Got pharmaceuticals for Many (2+1) customers in addition to ourself, service is our middle name man.

Unfortunately, one customer was Mama T-B., highly particular senior she man.

We had Many (2+2+1) -- si man, Many (2+2+1) -- phone caucuses about the ONE item that she was interested in, :girlwerewolf2xn: :girlwerewolf2xn: :girlwerewolf2xn: man.

Mama T-B. finally satisfied, shoot us now PLEASE man.

Sweatily walked back across bridge toward port of entry, exhausted we man.

When nearly there, got call from ex-Mrs.-T-B., call we man ex-she man.

Ex-Mrs.-T-B. couldn't find our casa-key to enable Mini-B. to tend to miu, no and :bonk: man!

"I went through my key ring and threw out everything that didn't seem to fit my locks, and your key was probably with those," quoth ex-she man.

We went aysheep and said several things about the undesirability of starving, lonely mius and a certain ex-someone's sense and organizational skills, rather displeased we man.

Ex-Mrs.-T-B. said, "Maybe I can find it in my trash," :girlwerewolf2xn: man.

We tried to compose ourself before self-presentation to CBP, Beethovenesque we man.

Tense CBP officer relaxed when we read him exactly what we'd gotten, lot of tension these days man.

Ex-Mrs.-T-B. subsequently texted to say "Found the key" and that Mini-B. was ministering to miu, relief man.

Din-din was a Manyple-helping orange chicken + rice dish from Chinese outfit in mall food court, ingest we man.

We were quite dehydrated the entire day, egad man.
