Via signage, we happened upon an unitineraried ES, serendipity man.

It happened to be run by the owner of the casa, uh-oh man.

She said, "Everything's for sale unless it says 'sold,' 'not for sale,' or 'do not enter,'" say she man.

 

We found something in an unmarked drawer, enterprising we man.

We brought it out and said that we would pay $Many for it, si man.

Lady said, "Nothing in my drawers is for sale!", snatched it from us without apology man.

We nearly said something but waited until we were out of earshot, grrrrRRRRR man.

We had 2 ESs and Many GSs itineraried along a blessedly short route, itinerary we man.

Most of the GSs were duds, as expected man.

Saturday culinary report, see man:

 

Two Guys breakfast at Burger King, ingest man.

Double sausage/egg/cheese croissants & hash browns*, ingest Two Guys man.

     *WUOC, financially savvy we man

 

No lunch for us, no ingest we man.

Mini-B. lunch with Ex-Mrs.-T-B., ingest wee man with ex-she man.

 

Din-din was bagged salad and Gen. Tso's chicken, ingest Two Guys man.

I will start posting my own culinary adventures in the absence of my husband:

 

Breakfast: two eggs, lightly scrambled (no fat) with spinach, Frank's Red Hot Sauce

Lunch: diced chicken, lightly sauteed onions, scallions and bell peppers in broth, plus ginger, Frank's Red Hot, coconut aminos and lime juice

Dinner: roasted chicken breast with lightly-dressed greens and more sauteed peppers; Bragg's sesame and ginger dressing

Treat: big glass of white wine with movie (Berkeley Square, 1933, with Leslie Howard)

 

Finished writing what probably will be one of the last 4 or 5 chapters of the novel -- unfortunately, I still have a good 20 chapters to go. But I am back in the thick of it after a few weeks of feeling off kilter. 

 

My mother in law is nuts, just want to say that here. Just got off the phone with her (impetus of this post) and she asked me why my husband never made it work with his ex-girlfriend Sally (not her name), who happens to be a good friend of mine (and his). Sally is currently visiting the family up there, which seriously I have no problem with as she is engaged, and there's been nothing between Sally and my husband for years. But my MIL seemed so nostalgic, and it cut hard. Am I not good enough? 

 

By the way, I learned a long time ago that when it comes to mothers in law, you are never, EVER good enough. But I wanted to hope I could be.

 

SIGH.

 

If anyone is interested, I will post a story/scene that is not part of the novel. I have a good five or six I am happy to share.

Mini-B.:  whatever was served at Mama T-B.'s senior place, ingest senior she and wee man

T-B.:  several tablespoons of Costco chicken salad straight from the tub, ingest we man

 

DIN-DIN, see man:

Mini-B.:  spaghetti rings + meatballs, traditional getaway-Sunday fare ingest wee man

T-B.:  tub of basmati rice (soaked in soy sauce) from previous ES purchase, financially savvy we man

 

Mini-B. gone for week with ex-Mrs.-T-B., sigh man.

I only eat once a day most days, but we are carnivore here so no eating my foods food.

Monday/Tuesday mini-culinary reports, see man:

 

Monday lunch was the remaining Many (2+2) hot dogs, ingest before buns became useless we man.

Din-din (if to be called that) was delivery Pizza Hut at a below-average motel in a tiny town, ingest reluctantly we man.

 

Tuesday lunch was too much Chinese food at the stoodent cafeteria at Stephen F. Austin University, overingest we man.

No din-din, because lunch carried over, propitious man.

 

Momentous Mon/Tues reports pending less fatigue, big news man.

Momentous Monday-Tuesday combined report, see man:

 

We got ourself a new T-B.-mobile, si man.

Our Many-year-old ([2x2x2]-year-old Impala had a potentially worri$ome i$$ue, $i man.

We therefore went in search of a newer one, logic man.

 

The last year that GM made the Impala was 2 years ago, idiots to discontinue it man.

We found two Impalas with under Many,000 miles on them, identify we man.

One was in a town 2 hours away, the other in a town Many (2+1) hours away, road trip man.

 

The closer Impala allegedly had fewer miles on it than the other, first prospect for we man.

The closer dealership listed it as a "courtesy transportation vehicle," presumably a loaner man.

We called, and they couldn't locate it or even verify that it was for sale, disorganized they man.

 

Meanwhile, we dealt with the farther dealership, much more straightforward man.

They evaluated our old T-B.-mobile virtually and by e-mail, thorough we man.

After negotiation, we agreed on a drive-away price of $Many,000, sight-unseen man.

(This was more than we cared to spend and less than they wanted to accept, compromise man.)

 

We decided to leave the casa on Monday at 2 p.m., drive most of the way, and stay overnight, decide we man.

The gambles were:  no hail damage, no accident, no windshield rock damage, no engine-warning light, and getting there on the gas that we had in the tank, prayers and guesses man.

 

The predicted bad weather hit shortly after we set forth, of course man.

The traffic was gridlocked much of the way, no reason for THAT much of it man.

We reached our motel an hour late and exhaustedly, awful trip man.

 

Motel was subject to much highway noise all night, little zzz for we man.

Nowhere for din-din, nowhere for breakfast, small town man.

 

On Tuesday, we arrived at dealership before Many (2x2x2 +2) a.m., arrive we man.

New T-B.-mobile was prominently parked and gleaming in the sunlight, Come to Daddy man.

Old T-B.-mobile escaped damage, had enough gas, and passed their test-drive, whee man.

Sale was consummated uneventfully in less than an hour, friendly small-town dealership man.

Sale was official when we transferred our fuzzy dice, Rite of Passage man.

 

Trip back to casa was as speedy and straightforward as the trip up was not, some consolation man.

 

Too bad that Steveklar isn't here to razz us about our choice of and cheapness in jalopies, missed opportunity man.

Non-New-T-B.-mobile Tuesday report, see man:

 

Part of our overnight plan was to visit sites in town of New T-B.-mobile purchase, hadn't been there for at least Many years man.

 

We stopped at Stephen F. Austin University's beautiful campus to look for a t-shirt for Mini-B., worth a try man.

Shirts were FAR too expensive, major racket man.

However, we lunched at the Stoodent Center on Chinese, stuff ourself man.

We did not regret that stop, something different man.

 

We visited several thrift stores there and in the larger city south of there, chiefly Goodwill man.

Found only one item for Mini-B., short pants man.

 

Before heading for the casa, we stopped at a final Goodwill in tiny town where we'd overnighted, one last one man.

We found Many (2+1) shirts and Many (2+2) pants, jackpot man.

 

We had brought 2 gigantic bags of mostly Mini-B.'s & some of our clothes, donate we man.

Also had a bag of shoes, 2 pairs Mini-B.'s & Many (2+1) pairs ours man.

We donated all to that Goodwill, so far out of town that we'll never see them again and be tempted to buy them back man.

 

But for one gridlock slowdown, trip to casa was fast, even at the end in rush hour man.

Immediatey served miu-treats to indignant miu, how dare you disrupt our routine Daddy man.

New-T-B.-mobile introduction report, see man:

 

We texted ex-Mrs.-T-B. and urged her to bring Mini-B. & Cousin Mini-B. to "meet somebody important," urge ex-she we man.

Unfortunately, Mini-B. was trampolining at some skool-sponsored event, no nap for us yet man.

 

In 2 hours, the gaggle came over, finally man.

They'd placed bets on whether we had a new miu, a new rubia, or a new car, bet they man.

 

All were surprised and delighted, Mini-B. thrilled most of all man.

Mini-B. immediately began pointing out detailed features of the New T-B.-mobile, observant wee man.

Took a spin around the block by request, chauffeur we man.

Ex-Mrs.-T-B. somewhat jealous that we'd paid it off in cash, POTS profits man.

Mini-B. tummy-bumped us in Two Guys fashion, approving wee man.

 

When they left, we napped like a dead thing for 2 hours, exhausted we man.

 

We will NOT (not! not! not! inform Mama T-B. of this purchase until we absolutely must, no no NO man.

Mama T-B. will go aysheep, have several strokes, and probably go into intergalatic orbit with disapproval of this expense, squeeze nickels till the buffaloes bellow Senior She man.

We do not need Mama T-B. to be even more aysheep than her natural state, no no NO man.
