I braved a half a bowl of chicken soup and some saltines. 

It was so bad yesterday, I couldn't eat anything, but had a high fever that wasn't responding to 2 Tylenols. So I had to take 4 Tylenols (and a nexium for the stomach) without food. It exacerbated the problem. 

 

Hey did I ever tell you that our dog only lets 1 groomer touch him? Her name is Nikki...

Right now he's kinda looking like what a lhasa apso is supposed to look like, a mop. 

Except he's kinda scuzzy. 

And uncouth...

Thrilling Friday report, see man:

 

Went to Costco with our annual rebate certificate, worth $Many man.

Got Many (2+1) fold-in-half Many-foot tables, good for

     -- holding our own GS, being contemplated man

     -- using as dinner tables in lieu of replacing what Ex-Mrs.-T-B. took, quite adequate man

Got bunch of other stuff to feed ourself and Mini-B., tasty* man.

       *canned chili-with-beans = divine, got Many (2x2x2) cans of it man

Would not have expended on most of that if out-of-pocket, too expensive & big portions man.

We were just $Many ($2x2x2x2+2+2+1) over the certificate amount of $Many, whee man.

 

Our first 2 years of Costco-certificating, we came within $Many ($2+2+1) under their value without trying, amazing sense for money (as a successful POTS Business Typhoon) we man.

Last year, we were way, WAY under, way way short we man.

This year, we were $Many over as stated, doggoned accurate we man.

 

We then went to at least Manyzen stores trying to find a bread loaf, none to be found man.

We presume that the markets will be restocked tomorrow, recovering from freeze man.

Won't need bread till Sunday eve when making Mini-B.'s skool lunch, still like to have on hand man.

 

If casa pipes survive tonight, we will have escaped leaks, rare around here man.

Temperatures supposed to rise to Many degrees F. throughout next week, Texas weather Many man.

We have only 2 ES options on Sat., neither optimal man.

One is Many (2x2x2x2-1) miles in one direction, normally no trouble man.

The other is Many (2x2x2x2-1) miles in the exact opposite direction, require backtracking man.

Each is run by rip-off outfits that we normally eschew, nothing to sneeze at man.

We will probably unenthusiastically pick one, keep impressive weekly streak alive man.

This year is starting rather rough in terms of GSs/ESs, feel sorry for us man.

they didn’t want me working 60 hours this week. Someone quit half way through a shift for personal reasons. I opened and closed that day and then came in for 6 hours in my day off. Thankfully one of them came in for the 3am floor fixing.  I think I owe them pizza but I bought them chocolate.   I have a good group for the most part. A few outliers but that’s normal.

Plumber's been. On walking up to the side of the house, he said he could hear a leak. Hear it. He must have the hearing of a bat, I suppose after 40 years in the business he would do. I couldn't hear it looking at it.  He found a little burst pipe, just inside the crawlspace.

The hot water heater is fine, and so is the element. The leak was draining away enough that the water heater couldn't catch up.

 

He also put the tub faucet back on. When I spoke to him earlier in the week, he said to let all the taps continue to drip, including in the bath. I only use the shower over the bath, and so that is where the diverter on the faucet was set. It wouldn't budge, so I gave it a good sharp smack, and it came off in my hand. Oops.  All up, $164.00. I was shocked, thinking it would be well more than that.  Himself apparently did a good enough job of insulating the pipes, as far as he went. There is a stretch he couldn't get to that has none, so I will look after that myself in better weather.
