My fiance and I applied for our i-129f in late October. Due to Japan's restrictions on mail and our inability to visit each other during COVID we were forced to send our application with photocopies of original signed documents. We read this USCIS article (https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-announces-flexibility-in-submitting-required-signatures-during-covid-19-national-emergency) which says that the USCIS is temporarily accepting photocopies of signed docs due to covid restrictions; however, this article was released nearly a year ago, and updated in may of 2020. As of yet there has been no updates on if this is still acceptable, and it has proven to be nearly impossible to speak to anyone at USCIS or even USPS on restriction updates. Now that my fiance and I are preparing for interview time and the later half of this process we are wondering if it will still be acceptable to use photocopies of original signed documents to complete our journey.

Please let us know if you are in a similar boat, or have any insight on this situation that may help us or anyone else out.

USCIS is different than the Department of State.  Just because the USCIS published something,  doesn't mean it is the same for DOS or vice versa.

What documents are you thinking you need that require signatures?

YMMV
