When can we expect an update on our case post-interview?

Hello,

So my wife and I had the interview for her I-485 last Wednesday. We were not explicitly told whether the application was approved or not at the end, but we were told that if we did end up in interviewing when filing the I-751 that we should handle it like we did that one because we were "perfectly" organized and attentive which seems like a good sign.

The IO told us we should expect an update to her status in a week. From a FB group we are in, it seems that the Milwaukee field office usually approves the application within a few days after interview (the longest recent wait I have seen in that group was 6 days). We have not yet received an update (we are now the longest interview-to-status-update wait in the aforementioned FB group).

So I wanted to know what is normal? Also, if we end up outside of "normal" for post-interview wait eventually, what ways can we contact USCIS to get our case figured out?

The other thing that might put a twist on our situation is that we changed her name on the application during the interview. My wife has been going by her married name, however we did not realize we could use that name when filling out the I-485 packet. The IO allowed us to change it so the green card would have her married name. I am not sure if this is part of the issue.

Timeline

It could take up to a month for them to approve even for an easy case and fast turn around.

My mother had her AOS interview in Dallas on November 10th 2020 and the case was approved December 7th 2020.

Also please note that people in the FB group are just a small portion of Milwaukee applicants so dont take their timeline as 100% accurate.

Its a very good sign the IO spoke about removing conditions  (I751).

So try to forget about it Im sure it will come soon. :)
