Hello everyone,

Please I need your experience regarding a step I am considering to take. I am considering going out of the country to be with my partner for a while. Probably till we get the visa and fly back together. Therefore, I won't have where to receive mails related to my K-1 petition or be able to open and read except I fill the forms with my joint sponsor's home address (where I currently live due to losing my job last year)  who can be updating me about correspondences. I have not sent out my petition packet and I intend to do so this weekend. My plan is to get my own place when I return but I want the time to be running on the petition while I am away.

My question is, are petitioners and joint sponsors allowed to live in the same home? He is not a family but a close family friend.

How easy is it to update one's address if one move in between filing?

Thank you for your feedback.

You can live anywhere you want, but you MUST show domicile or intent to re-establish domicile in the US prior to the visa being issued.

I am not aware that domicile is as big an issue with the i134 other than the petitioner must be in the USA before the k1 arrives.  Maybe the issue of domicile is inferred, but from what I've seen its income.

YMMV

Thank you. Is it acceptable to share the same address with my joint-sponsor?

I intend to relocate to another state and get a place now  but the problem is while am gone, I wouldn't have anyone to pick my mails and keep me posted.

Before the visa is being issued, I would have secured another place and with lease to proof.

I will return before then. It's no problem.

My major concern is if it is acceptable for me as the petitioner to share the same address as the joint sponsor? Though I intend to get a place when the process is getting to semi-final stage and I can update my address.

If it will be an issue, are the mails forwardable from the post office? Forwarding from one state to another state? I can get another place now and request usps to be forwarding my mails to my joint sponsor.

Sharing the same address isn't an issue

YMMV
