I arrived to United States finally, let me tell you about immigration customs

Once at jfk airport there is a section called : visitors with visa, so we went there they took our finger prints and then led us to a room where officers have computers, I gave them my passport n was told to sit, after few minutes they called my name and asked me where I came from, and where am I heading to.

That was all!! I was not searched or even asked document.

I have one question what should I do guys to inquire about my green card, I already paid fees before arriving to country two weeks ago.

My green card arrived 2-3 weeks after my arrival in the US. I never received my SSN card automatically even though I had checked the box. Had to go to an office and apply in person after 8 weeks since I was offered a job. But that might be completely different for you.

Congratulations

hope you like a lot of snow that you see when you got to NYC

you'll like Arizona

it would be helpful if you went to your profile and completed the timeline and did a POE review of the process at Customs and immigration

thank you

It’s completely random how long the GC and SSN card take. My GC took 63 days, my SSN card took 21 days (probably would have been faster if I had not arrived here 6 days before Christmas 2016). Someone who arrived through the sand POE as me a month later got their GC in 28 days.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Congratulations Fatima and welcome to the states. My husband arrived 3 months ago, he recited his social security card within 1 week, we haven’t received his Green card yet. I checked the status often and just yesterday the status updated to “card being produced”. So, give it about 90 days from either the day you paid the fees or the day you arrived.

Google “USCIS case status” and enter the receipt number you received after you made your payment.
