Hi,

we got approved yesterday :) and one question arose: I haven't changed my documents yet after getting married (I know it's pretty late ;)). The docs were filed with my new name of course, but the passport number was for one issued with my maiden name. I want to apply for a new passport soon and I was wondering whether after I get it I should notify anyone of the change? Or should I just bring both passports to the interview and not worry about it?

thanks,

ania

Witaj Ania!

My fiance did the same thing. After we received the approval, he decided he wanted to get a new passport to have the full validity of 10yrs as his would expire in a yr(in the US it costs 3 times as much to get a passport and much longer processing time.) You shouldn't have any problems with getting your new passport, hurry and do it before interview time. Lukasz's took exactly 30 days to process & be ready for pick up, so not sure if he requested rush service or not. I may not be 100% correct on this, but I thought they take your old passport when they issue you a new one? This means that you'd be only taking one to the interview anyway.

Definitely think this shouldn't be a problem, it wasn't for us. It will actually look better at interview to have your husbands name already in the passport!

Congratulations! Where in the US are you coming to?

hey :)

sorry for the delay - finally had couple days off.

thanks for the advice - that's what I'm going to do - apply for a new one and take both with me. Nanusia, you're right - it usually takes 'up to 4 weeks', but you can't request anything like a rush service. Some time ago there used to be a way to get your passport earlier in case of emergency, but not anymore.

And to answer your question - we're going to be living in Boston :) Can't wait !

Pozdrawiam,

Ania

Hi Ania, I believe the rush service still exists in PL, my mom was there in May and she got a new passport in 4-5 business days. Maybe you have to give them some special reason.

Good luck!

Hi honey,

I just wanted you to know that you have been wonderful through this entire process. I am sorry that I haven't been there as much as I should have been...but you pulled us through this process...and for that I thank you. For all the people out there who are going through a long distance visa process...support each other, be involved....because not every girl is going to be as capable, amazing and forgiving as my wife Ania. I love you honey.

I'm sure that this passport problem happens quite a bit baby...whatever they end up giving you...which I think will be my last name on the visa...it'll be fine.. kocham cie
