Biometrics notice reuse: wrong address on the notice

Hi,

 

I checked my online account yesterday, and saw that a biometrics reuse notice was uploaded to my profile.

However my old address (in CA) is on the notice. I changed my address back in August (then again in September once we settled in Vermont; I saved the latest AR-11 as pdf just in case). 

 

My online profile shows my correct address in VT but now I worry that USCIS will be sending me notices to my old CA address (I no longer have access to that mailbox). Has anyone experienced this? And what's the best path forward? 

 

My profile online states that I "cannot edit [my] mailing address or physical address during this part of the adjudication process".

 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Remember you also get the notice in your online account as well so you don't need to worry about getting a physical notice since you'll be able to print it. Just make sure that the moment you get the notice online check the date. You can also call USCIS and verify the address matches the new one.

I'm just worried that USCIS doesn't always upload the notices online so I wouldn't want to 100% rely on what the account shows. But more importantly I'm concerned about the location of my interview (whenever that gets scheduled) as I have no reason to take it in California... 😕

Yes I experienced this. I had my address with a mailbox and did the AR11 to my new address. But everything still came to the first address. In my case I was able to keep the mailbox and only had to drive across town. At my interview I told her my address had changed but they sent the oath letter to the old address again.

Do you have Informed Delivery set up? Also forward all your mail to the new address.

 

Try calling USCIS or sending a message via the inbox also. How to get a person on the phone at USCIS:

I don't have informed delivery setup but I did forward all my mail back when I changed my address. 

Will try to get in touch with someone at USCIS. Thank you so much for the link!

Let us know how it goes. Your question seems very straight forward so I'm really hoping they can help get your mail forwarded and the address updated.

My address change has not been smooth at all: 1st time didn't even work (or so it seems), 2nd time - worked but online profile still only shows my mailing address (it's different from physical address as we have PO Box here & no mail service) in both mailing and physical address sections. Furthermore - my case status changed to 'Your Case Has Been Transferred to Another Field Office' right after each of the address changes (which made sense) but then about a month later - that status went away, changed back to 'Your Case Was Received and Notice Was Emailed', and stated that it was being processed in the Online Processing office 🤷‍♀️ Straight forward and USCIS don't go well together 😅

This is exactly what happened in our case!!! Thank you for confirming that it wasn't just us, haha. Filed in April in one state, moved semi-cross country to a new state in May. Saw the exact same message about "transferred to another field office" and then it disappeared and changed back. I feel relieved to know this is just obviously what they do in cases where people move states.

 

Unfortunately for my husband, he has still not received any word on biometics yet. USCIS rep over the phone told us to physically mail a letter to the local field office here requesting biometrics reuse...haven't done that yet, but if nothing by the end of the week, then we may have to resort to that. I also messaged them via the inbox last week, still no response there. I have no idea what the hold up is, my husband's last biometrics was April 2019, he doesn't have a criminal record, has never had issues with USCIS before (ROC processing was over and done in 5 months), and our local office is already scheduling interviews for those who filed in August even. It's very weird. I'm going to resort to the "write a letter" option if nothing after this week. 😕

 

Sorry for the tangent, haha. But yes, you're so right: nothing is straightforward with USCIS! Still hoping you'll have better luck with them on the phone.

The biometric thing is frustrating... Most people from my filers topic (June 2020 for N400) received their biometric reuse notice within months so I know the feeling. Hopefully your husband gets his soon too! And then the interview will come right after  

 

On a side note, there is absolutely zero movement on my ROC (and at least your husband got his!) 😅 And from the looks of my online profile - it's like it doesn't even exist anymore (not available on any of the drop down menus for any online tools, only my n400 is).

Oh strange! Did you put your ROC case number there? My husband's account still shows all of his old cases there, on both old and new sites.

Yes, it's in my profile but when I go to any online tools (e.g. case inquiry, address change, etc.) - the only case in the drop down is my N400... 🤷‍♀️

Maybe mention it when you call them, might as well try to get all the info you can once you get someone on the phone. Could be because your N-400 has now just "taken over" whatever they were doing with the ROC case.

So I called them this morning (right at 8:00a so got connected right away), and the agent was very nice. 

She told me that my application is ready to be scheduled for interview, and confirmed my VT address on file. 

 

She was just as surprised as I was to learn that my online notice was showing my old address. But said that the notice was most likely not physically mailed in any event. 

 

She also submitted my infopass appointment request (my extension expires on 2/28/2021), and I should get a call back within 7 business days (hopefully).

That is weird. I've heard people getting biometrics reuse notices are not getting them in the mail but online only under the "Documents" tab. Some people are getting them without even knowing because they didn't check under there.

 

I'm glad that everything seems to be going well. Hopefully if they do mail anything, it'll go to the new address.
