I see. Keep working on the sarcasm then. You'll get it eventually. If you don't, you can always find work at BabylonBee.

You're so clever!

So what is the view on contractions?

In what regard? I have seen them cause issues for non native speakers, but it's not something where people can easily make up their own contractions or change the meaning of the words to suit their own purpose. Then again, we might have thought that about the OK symbol at one time.

Might we stick to the subject then?

It seems to be a thing lately, but I don't believe a response is needed to say you find a post is irrelevant. You can actually indicate that by not responding.

Ok, on topic.  When I lived in Germany, I didn't speak much German.  If they spoke German to me, that means they are racist.  Likewise, if they wrote an acronym in German, they are racist.

Practicing my sarcasm, as instructed.  I'll try to do better.

Yes, I did.  In fact, I also saw it posted on Facebook, and several other stories have popped up about it.  What is your point?  Why do you think everyone is joking around in this topic?  It is because what the guy at SFUSD has done is a joke.

I haven't said anyone is joking around. We have mostly been discussing issues relative to the topic, at least I have, and one of them happens to be characteristics of a "White Supremacy Culture" linked in the original article, and also the use of acronyms in general. I'm asking because you seem to be reacting to something else.

Oh forgot you need to seriously have kids because they will let you know that you are REALLY OLD... They will say things like "did you have a tv when you were young", "that song is so old", "were telephones around back in your day".

Everyone else is joking around because the actual topic is ridiculous.  The topic was, calling acronyms racist.  The topic was not the supposed source of the school, a 1999 paper called "White Supremacy Culture".  You were triggered by that.  I just did a quick review of it (I did not bother the first time) and it is also ridiculous, and there is no mention of acronyms.

Now I read that paper and I have a problem.  How can I tell my PERFECTIONIST wife, who wants everything done NOW, WITH A SENSE OF URGENCY, that she is demonstrating the characteristics of a WHITE SUPREMIST, without her getting DEFENSIVE?

Woe is me.  First Covid, now this.  😢

Have you told her she is a racist?
