The party seemed keen to attract Obama voters in 2016 so 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, it's weird. Oh well, goalposts move and such. I'm all in favor of everyone jumping off the party ship, these days it seems like there's a demand for your soul and stuff. Yeesh.

Let's say your party's front runner eats babies for dinner. Now you really don't think it's cool to eat babies for dinner in fact you don't think they stand for anything your party that you love is about. Still gonna vote for them, huh?

Guess we all gotta be sheep these days...

There was a reason why many Democrats voted for Reagan.

Wow... you went off the deep end on that one

I agree there is demand on both sides for people to stay true to the party. Which many people feel that the Republican party doesn't speak for them anymore, just like there is people in the Democrat party that are leaving it because they feel the same way

Some (most, all) shouldn't let the door hit them in the hindquarters on their way out.

So Republicans will never be in the majority, ever?

Are you suggesting Trump will be out of jail and back ready to run again by 2024?

Did I already post the Trump/Arrested Development  comparison? Yes? Okay let's dot it again

I don't think anyone wants one party rule. What many of us would like the GOP to become a more appealing alternative. Hence the posting.

The ironic thing is it would probably take less effort and be more sustainable (in the long run) to do that than it did to go down the path we just did with Trump. It's not huge changes, but it's harder when you are going in the wrong direction to begin with. Having someone like Trump elected just allows the Democrats to get more loopy.

I think the Dems do in fact want one Party rule.  They are fine with a minor second Party to have around as a scapegoat, but they would be just fine without having to worry about the other Party ever having power.  Just a point of clarification, when I say One Party Rule, I mean one Party always in power, not specifically only one Party only.

Based on all the news stories out there, it appears it is.  Regardless, I do not really care as I do not owe any allegiance to any political Party.

If you don't feel the candidate speaks for your party or that your party is not behaving in a manner that is becoming of what the party stands for, why should a party member be ridiculed for voting their conscience or, even leaving their party? Why should a member of the party be forced to vote for someone they don't believe in? Which was my point before. Parties are made up of people, and they do not need to be mindless sheep about it.

Tell that to Nancy and Chuck.  You cannot tell me that everyone in Congress with a D next to their name is in lockstep with the heading of that Party.  I hear Joe M. is pretty pissed about what the WH did last week, he could really shake things up and change Parties and put Chuck S. back in the minority seat.

That is the point. Joe might be pissed, but it's hard to see him or any other Democrat going to the right ATM. If anything Joe would be independent and probably still caucus with the Dems most of the time.  Even for those that don't like the Dems, the GOP has done nothing to position themselves as a viable alternative for moderates, and they are still going in the wrong direction.

I always wondered about the whole "I" label, if one is truly independent, why does one caucus with any Party.  Btw, I don't think Joe moving to the GOP would actually be a move to the Right, but rather more of a move to the Center.  Regardless, there is one thing Trump was right about, DC is in fact a swamp, it really does not matter which Party one belongs to, they are all worthless.

Becoming independent would be a move to the center. I agree that would be a relative move to the right, but nothing about the GOP is currently in the center.
