You could always join us, Boiler, and not do the drive back to Denver. :P

Probably need to attend a reeducation camp.

Lol. We actually looked at Denver as an option for moving to. Nice enough place (I liked it more than I had expected to), certainly way more bang for your housing buck than the Bay Area, but ultimately just not for us. Different strokes and all that, like I said, we have friends who love it there.

I know a very nice one in Ojai. I'm sure I can get you the hookup.

I was going to say we have too many Californians as it is but that could get me into BIG trouble.

Hookup would be nice.

We don’t have much choice when it comes to where we live. Not in the short term at least. We’d have to move in with my wife’s parents while we find our feet and figure out what we’re doing for jobs and whatnot. I think it would be impossible for us to move to a totally different state to her parents upon moving there really.

Ok as I'm going through this in a similar way at the moment I'll say what I've found out so far

Getting past the embassy and into the u.s. is going to be the hard part with no live trace no matter how innocent and how long ago the incidents were

Basically you're going to need a lawyer because of something called moral turpitude this sounds if you google it really bad but from what I'm seeing they can apply to anything they see fit if they're that way out

My offence is possession of cannabis ( £7.50 street value!!! ) and that was the reason I was refused and have to apply for a waiver to uscis

the offence happened 25 years ago and was spent but they have decided to make me appeal for this

Best of luck with your application of course and whilst I'm an lfc fan I have respect for your team so UTB

Your friend’s situation is very different to OP. Firstly, a history with drugs is extremely prejudicial to chances of getting a US visa, especially if there have been any related convictions. Secondly, being a substance abuser is a medical inadmissibility (potential to harm self or others).  Very different situation to OP.

I didn't say it was similar. All I did was provide an example of someone who was denied but never mentioned it was similar at all not once.

I also provided a link with some information for OP in the hope it may help as it provided information for crimes that may prevent a US visa.

Hardly the same thing. You have a drug conviction. Much bigger deal and can get you banned depending on severity.

That said, with 'NO LIVE TRACE' the OP will need to get in touch with the nick that dealt with him each time and see if they hold any records, along with the courts too. They probably don't, but he needs to get a letter saying as much.

First off, I don't know as I did not have convictions, but I thought I'd google and found this link. Hopefully it may help. Sorry I can't help further.

I did have a friend who is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict and he was denied his US visa. That's the only experience I know off through discussing with him. He wanted to move to marry his fiancé. He's still working on this and I hope he doesn't relapse.

sorry for your friend, but I hope he will succeed!
and thanks for the link, I found a lot of useful information on this site!
