The US is a great country. Housing here is 1/3. Material lifestyle is way better in the US. Australians are "poor". They live in a $1.2m home that doesn't have a laundry room. They hang their clothes outside like cavemen. Their $1.3m home don't have water connection to the fridge, so they take ice from the ice tray like Neanderthals. But yeah, beaches are great.

LOL we Germans are the same but we call it environmental conscious instead of neanderthals :D

Plus, australian beaches

Yes, but......venomous things.  Enormous spiders and snakes.  Have you really thought this out?

This house would cost $180k in the US. It cost $2.7m in Melbourne. https://www.domain.com.au/386-richardson-street-middle-park-vic-3206-2016629341

They are delusional.

Please help me find that house for $180k around Boston :)

Hook right turn was slightly traumatizing, but I had a great time in Melbourne.  Hoping to go back after the pandemic.

Safe travels.

Argh, what am I talking about! it turns out they're illegal in Australia too! so much for trying to mock the Kiwi...

Did not know that. Question:  I read somewhere today that NZ has no more Covid cases. Do you know if that is true?  Best of luck to you when you move back to Australia. My husband is from Switzerland. Sometimes I think it would be nice to live there, but it’s so expensive.

NZ is the poster child for COVID management.  When they have had isolated cases, strict quarantining has taken care of containing them.

I think that’s subjective... NZ has a population of 4.9m people total, and usually half of those people are in Australian at any one time for work etc... should we not be comparing their performance against a small US town? Rather than other countries? Lol

it illegal to have a pet rabbit in Qld Aus.. unless of course it’s to feed to the pet snake

New Zealand's population is approximately the same as Oregon, USA.  Oregon has had 150k COVID cases, and NZ 2k.  I think they can still claim poster child status.....

New Zealand is a tiny island with homogenous and compliant demographics, very small population, low density, and fewer infections to begin with.

The USA is massive, mixed, not compliant, with ultra-high density (NYC), and had a huge numbers right from the get go.

Comparing the two is just dumb.

Also health in the US is mostly private and there are economic incentives to report more COVID cases, whereas NZ has a public health system and these incentives are not present.

@tom3227 you said you’ve got dogs and have to wait 180days...

are you putting puppies through quarantine and taking them with you? If so please let me know how that all goes... I’ve got 2 sleepiest here and hubby and I are thinking to head home to port Douglas in 3 or 4 years and my worry is how it all works I’d hate to think my babies be locked in a small cage for 6 months
