Dont they ask you more questions on the 2020 test? Like you need to get 12/20 or something like that?

In the 2020 version you need 12 out of 20 right to pass, but they ask all 20 and then tell you if you passed.

In the 2008 version you need 6 out of 10 right to pass, and if you got 6 right they tell you you passed and won't ask more questions.

This was one of the arguments against the new test, asking 20 questions instead of most of the time 6 makes the civics portion of the interview 2-3 times longer than before, therefore less interviews in one day.

Yes....the new version you have to get 12 of 20 right. The old version was 6 of 10.

Ok so I am considering re-filing. I mentioned earlier that I turned in a paper application and obviously it is still not even accepted. I realized this was a mistake and I should have gone with an online application. You guys know if i can stop my bank from authorizing the payment so that the paper application doesn't get accepted when USCIS finally gets to it in God knows in how many months from now? But at the same time turn in the online application in today or tomorrow at the latest?

READ READ READ!!!

The Civics test is changing again.

Only December 2020, January 2021, and February 2021 filers will take the new version of the test.....and will have the option to take the previous version. Any interviews after April 19th will have the old version of the test.

They also are reverting to only asking as many questions as needed to pass (i.e. if you get your first 6 questions right, they won't continue asking)

It's freaking amazing!!!!! The 2020 test wasn't that hard as it was really confusing, I'm glad we are taking on the 2008 one

On the 2020 they were supposed to ask you all 20 questions with 12 correct answers, on the 2008 version it's 10 question with 6 correct answers

So if we have the choice to choose, who in their right mind will go with the 2020 version?

Just sounds like overkill

I doubt we'll have a choice......I can't see many February filers having their interview before April 19th.

Actually there's someone in the January 2021 filers group who qualifies based on military service, those cases go much faster and he'll have his interview in March, so he'll get to choose.

I imagine if someone was in a similar situation and someone applied after December 1, 2020 based on military service and their interview was today or sometime this week they might want to go with the 2020 version 🤷‍♀️

I think that's wise. Your only option is to ask your bank to put a hold on the check. You will need the check number. And even this method isn't guaranteed but it's your best shot.

I don’t think you need to refile online. It’s taking at least 3-5 weeks for paper application to get acknowledged and processed. You have to be patient. You don’t want to lose $1450 😀

My application was delivered February 8th and still I haven’t received the txt or email( I sent g1145 form with application) of acceptance I’m just being patient ,it’s frustrating not getting anything from USCIS but I have to let the process work, it’s just me, I think you really need to think on what you want to do about your case and maybe even look for profesional opinion and chose wisely good luck

Wow about the civics test. Are the study guide and questions different for the two tests?

Also, we received our hard copy NOA in the mail yesterday. The same day we received a letter saying they would reuse biometrics. Our last biometrics appointment for removal of conditions was in May 2019. I honestly thought since we waited a year after removal of conditions that they would want to redo it.
