The pinned topic only has kids and siblings.

what are the steps and forms for bringing parents

my wife’s mother who has been married twice

first husband died

currently still married

wife doesn’t work and is the petitioner. I will provide financial support

we filing taxes jointly

appreciate the help. We are about to file the I-130 so i just want to have ducks lined up for the other forms and documentation.

my MIL doesn’t have a birth certificate yet, PSA doesn’t have any record of her birth so she needs to get one made essentially. Then her passport but what else will she need?

marriage stuff death certificate stuff( first husband) police clearance? Etc

what will she need to fill out Vs what can we fill out for her? She doesn’t have a house with a house number so getting and sending mail is very hard. We need to use LBC currier and she picks up.

Thanks!

scott

She realizes she won’t be able to bring her husband with her on the same visa, right?

If the marriage occurred before her 18th birthday, then the petitioner can file a separate I-130 for her stepdad.

If the marriage occurred after her 18th birthday, then the petitioner can not file for her stepdad.  After mom becomes an LPR, she could file for her husband.

Please look again at the Guides.  There's one for the parents of US citizens.

A link would be helpful because I did look before posting.

Current husband won’t be a problem he will be staying in the Philippines. There are no plans to have him immigrate.

Thank you

follow up question. After the I-130 is approved it says my MIL will be contacted to complete the process at the consulate in the Philippines.

After Filing Your Petition

You will be notified by USCIS if your Form I-130 petition is approved or denied. If it is approved and your parent is outside the United States, he or she will be notified to go to the local U.S. consulate to complete visa processing. ”

she will absolutely need help and we plan to travel there to support her and make sure she has all the right documents for her appointment.

what forms will she fill out to immigrate after the I-130 is cleared?

also again mentioning if anyone has experience where the beneficiary cannot get mail at home because there is no house #.

thabk you

scott
