Hi, I have been a USC since 2012. My parents have visited me several times in US. Their current visitor visa expires in ~2024.

They came this year in January and I am now thinking to file for I-130 and I-485. I am also looking into the documents needed. I will be filing I-130 online. My situation is a bit unique as i am currently working abroad on an assignment as a US expat and will be returning in March. My parents are with my sister at the moment.

I had some questions:

1) I need to file I-130 online and then send I-485+supporting documents in parallel by mail ?
2) Should i file I-131 once i receive approval for I-130 or should i also file that right away ? I believe i can submit I-131 online
3) Is there any other "form" which i need to file besides I-130, I-485 and I-131. My parents do not plan to work in US  so employment relevant forms are not needed
4) Should i file I-130 while i am outside US ? Any benefit in filing for I-130 asap ? My sister will have to help in sending the I-485 package. On a related note, it seems like based on the current Trump ban i will not be able to file for I-130 until it is lifted.

I-130 seems to be simple and not too many docs required. For I485, we will have to see if we can get the documents while they are in US as they do not have the docs required.

Thanks.

You can file the I 130 now does not matter where anybody is.
