I think it's a balancing act. On the one hand, we don't want to keep rewarding mediocre politicians with more terms, simply because we're used to them. On the other hand, institutional knowledge has real value, provided that the elected official actually uses it wisely. There's not a one size fits all solution here. John Lewis was a titan, an American hero who deserved to be elected and re-elected time and again. Steve King? Not so much.

And then there's Mitch McConnell. Kentucky is near the bottom in health, education, prosperity, fiscal stability, and one of the highest states in crime and environmental issues. By all standards in which you'd rate a state Senator, he's failed to deliver for Kentuckians. And yet this man will die in office because his constituents will never vote him out.

Having said that, I'm opposed to term limits. If Kentuckians (or any state whose congressional representatives can't help their states for the better) want ineffective leadership at the federal level, so be it.

Ideally I agree, but in the end, term limits are needed, no person regardless of how effective or ineffective they may be deserves more than two terms in either the House or the Senate.

He'll be OK. Even if he loses a bid for reelection in 4 years, he can just yell fraud really loud and hire a couple of shady lawyers, then tell everyone he won.

or he could launch a 3 year probe of his opponent based allegations of Russian interference, try to impeach him for something the other candidate did,  or scream sexism for 4 years although he would be irrelevant.

The Dem party spent 4 years trying to undo a lawful election and have the audacity and hypocrisy to cry treason  because Trump questioned and election for 2 weeks. Its the hypocrisy that chaps my behind

Some of that, too.

Remember, he ran against the Anointed One, whereas Trump ran against Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

well judging by those standards should the Dem congressman that represent the 20 poorest congressional districts in America leave office ?

I'm not sure that is a bad thing. I mean it was a great one off slogan for a guy who had no experience, but then we all got the chance to actually see what no experience gets you.

several peace deals in the mid east, a record economy and jobs gain, reversing decades of racial injustice in the penal system. A program that gave us a covid vaccine in record time, border control

I could go on and on

My condolences. It's never a good thing when a probe leads to someones behind getting chapped.

I want to say ouch, but it's hard to imagine it would actually be more uncomfortable than a nasal swab inching it's way closer and closer to your brain.

Unless they are still trying to reach the brain via the alternative entrance.
