Request for Evidence during or before interview

Hello

I was just wandering in case of need for evidence in N400 application, does the USCIS request the evidence before they assign interview date, or they wait for the interview to make the request and then you send it to them?

The reason I am asking is because if they wait for interview, then I may just prepare all kind of documents they may ask for; otherwise I will take only requested documents.

Your experience will be very helpful and appreciated.

What evidence?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

What do you mean request for evidence? If anything is missing then when they review your case they will tell you something is missing. That's a typical RFE. That should happen before the interview. But in certain instances after the interview if something didn't satisfy them they may send you another RFE before they make the final decision.

There are mandatory documents to submit when one files, but then you can add many other things that you think can better make a case for you. If somehow you are saying that you know what it is they may ask and you forgot, I would go ahead and add that online in the add documents section without delay and not wait for them to ask as that will delay your case and your interview...

Nonetheless if there is anything you think is relevant and additional and pertinent and won't draw more questions than bring any insight, you can also add them to your online account. Either way, you HAVE to bring any document you submitted during your application at the interview (mandatory or volunteered info) and you are welcome to prepare any other documents not submitted yet and bring them with you at the interview.

Thank you for the thorough response.

There is a very short list of documents you are required to submit with the application.

There is a significantly longer list of documents that they say you should bring to the interview (see the n400 instructions).
They would surely not send you an RFE in advance for documents they expect you would bring with to the interview for any particular aspect of your case they would he needed for. Possibly, if you forgot to send one of the few required documents you might get one.
