Passport Size Photos and Intent to Marry

Hi Everyone!

Me and my fiancee have just started to get our application together and I have a few questions as to the letter of intent and the US passport photo of me. Will scanned copies of these be ok or should I send the originals via mail? Just a bit worried about sending it via mail as the last letter I sent her took just over 3 weeks to get there so worried if there is a delay it will be over the 30 day limit on the photos.

Thanks for the help.

The letter of intent to marry must be original as far as I know. Because some of VJ members got RFE for that. Use DHL to mail everything. It took 2 days to be delivered to NJ from Moscow.
So u can include ur photograph as well

Regarding the letters of intent - scanned is fine. Got our petition approved few days ago.

not sure what you meant regarding passport photos... I went to a place to get my photo taken and requested them in a digital format and just sent it via email to my petitioner fiancé who went to Walmart or CVS to print out a physical passport style photo.

https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-1-part-b-chapter-2

"A signature is valid even if the original signature on the document is photocopied, scanned, faxed, or similarly reproduced. Regardless of how it is transmitted to USCIS, the copy must be of an original document containing an original handwritten signature, unless otherwise specified. The regulations do not require that the person signing submit an “original” or “wet ink” signature on a petition, application, or other request to USCIS.

Due to being in lockdown I can only use one of those photo booths that print them off for you so will have to get them and then either mail them or scan them. No digital option available on them sadly.

Perfect! Will print off and get them signed later today then.

Oh I see, I haven’t even thought about the lockdown! I think it could work if you use a high resolution scanner. At least it’s worth a try, and if it doesn’t work, then you could always mail them.

No.  You need to recheck the reasons for the RFE.  The only "wet " signature required is the one on the petition form itself.

YMMV

Take a passport-style picture on your phone and email it? They won't actually use the picture you include with your petition for your visa.
