Update on US COVID test requirements:

I discussed with my American coworkers who handle international travel in and out of the US. They confirmed that the negative test result is sufficient, following these CDC guidelines. No need for a medical certificate issued by a doctor.

You only need the negative antigen or PCR test for the US.  Those tests results will be asked just before entering NAIA, plus at the check in counter, plus at the gate where the additional security takes place.  There is a less than 1% (or maybe 1 in a million) that anyone will ever ask you for your test results in the US.  If you gave someone a medical certificate in the US related to your "fit to travel" they would be confused to what you are giving them.  I flew into NY, technically they have a 4 day quarantine but I left immediately to PA as Im considered an essential worker, but nobody even asked me for that information.  In fact, nobody asks for anything.  Just do your COVID test and youll be fine.  Im happy to be out of the PI and to be treated as an adult again.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

Just arrived in the US. Travel was nice and easy.

PH exit immigration:
Documents asked at check-in counter and immigration:
Passport with visa
COVID test result
Travel insurance with COVID coverage
Travel tax receipt
Immigration declaration card
Passenger attestation

Review: Nice and friendly officers. Asked a few more questions than usual but nothing difficult or troublesome. Absolutely nothing asked about CFO, even though I mentioned I was going to visit my fiancé. Which is the way it should be.

Transit: Tokyo
Bit of a ghost town. While waiting by the boarding gate, I was approached by airport security. I was asked some polite questions about where I was going, who I was meeting, and my work and travel history. Officer was satisfied after flipping through my current and previous passports and left me alone.

US port of entry: Chicago
All fine. Officer asked me if I fed my fiancé balut. Lol

Hope this helps others planning trips!

Wow why would they do this? Did they ask anyone else? But it's water under the bridge now. Glad you made it safe! Have fun!

Yes, I found it unusual that a Japanese officer approached me at the boarding gate to ask these questions, but I saw them doing the same thing with some other passengers, even fellow Japanese waiting near me. And they were polite and friendly, typical Japanese style.

They probably don't have anything else to do. 😉
