Hey Everyone,

I'm about to start I-130 for my spouse. I'm a green card holder and waiting to be USC but forum suggested that I file it now to secure the filing date and I can later switch when I get my USC.

Could anyone advise how to submit pictures to USCIS. Would Word document with all the Wedding, travel pictures (with caption identifying important people in picture) be enough? Please provide any suggestions.

Yes, you can copy and paste photos in a Word document save it as a PDF and upload it.  Just watch the file size, I don’t remember the limit.

Hello VJ members,

I recently got married in Nepal and about to apply I-130 for my spouse. I don't have lots of documents and so far I have only collected this much.

1.  Pictures from Wedding and party reception and trips that we took together in Nepal

2. Marriage certificate

3. Chat, call history from Instagram and Messenger (I might take a screenshot that shows date that we been talking since last 6 months)

4.  Receipts from hotels that we stayed during our honeymoon.

5. Nepal's domestic air ticket, that we took together.

5. She has a bank account in Nepal so she is planning to add me on her bank account.

6. I will add her on my insurance from job in US.

Any other recommendation for I-130? I'm bit unsure if this would be enough. Please suggest if there's more documents like affidavit from people that attended wedding etc.

Beneficiary's birth certificate is not required at the petition stage.  After the petition is approved, your spouse will need to submit a number of civil documents, including birth certificate.  The specific list depends on your beneficiary's country and residence history.

For more details, check the blue ribbon at the top of this page for VJ's guides.  Also, the USCIS instructions for I-130 filing are here -- https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-130instr.pdf

At this point, the best evidence you can provide is your marriage certificate and evidence of time actually spent together.  Your evidence list looks fine.

@Lucky Cat Do you know if I could just use Scan app to create pdf documents using my phone for marriage certificate, hotel receipts etc.

If it produces a quality scan, I see no problems.

In addition to the evidence of time spent together in person, we also did wills, living wills, powers of attorney for each other, also I included my husband as beneficiary on life insurance, added him to my US health insurance, dental, vision, beneficiary on retirement accounts, bank accounts, added him as an authorized user on a credit card account, we filed a joint tax return with the IRS with a W-7 for his ITIN, things like that to show as much financial co-mingling as possible while living in different countries and front-loaded all the evidence with the I-130 petition package.  Good luck!

I believe you have to notarize Power of attorney, Wills etc, how do you recommend since my spouse is in different country? Yes I do plan to include her on my bank account as an authorized user and also do joint tax return. What is ITIN number?
