I had my citizenship interview done on 06th of January, 2021. The interview went well and the interviewing officer handed me the form N-652 with the box checked for "Congratulations your application is recommended for approval".

It has been more than two and a half weeks since then with no movement forward.

At this point I am still not particularly worried or concerned at the lapse of these two and a half weeks. I gather that the USCIS has 120 days from the date of the interview to issue a final decision.

But how long should I wait before I start making some inquiries?

And if I do reach such a point - who should I specifically be talking to or what is the best way/method to find out what is happening with my application?

Any insights are deeply appreciated.  Thank you.

What means recommended for approval, the officer needs his supervisor approval and may be due to the pandemic they put your application in long lines

Normally I’d expect a notice in a couple more weeks for an oath ceremony in February.  With the pandemic this could take months.  You should be a citizen in time for the primary elections for the 2022 mid terms about 14 or so months from now.

As to how long you should wait before inquiring: 120 days.  At that point you call USCIS and get a level 2 officer.

Congrats!

I guess I am slightly confused as some people seem to have received their notice of oath within a few days after the interview. But I also understand each interview is unique.

Thank you for the suggestion about trying to get hold of a level 2 officer after 120 days.

Some field offices and or IO handle and process cases differently. You are free to inquire with a Tier 2 officer about your case.

Congrats on completing the journey while you await your oath ceremony.

I think it depends on each office and how they manage their cases. I had the interview the same day as you January 6th and the officer scheduled my ceremony appointment right there with me. She said that the week before they used to do the oath right after the interview because of covid which I would have like it way more. I think you just have to wait for the letter with your oath ceremony appointment.

I don’t know what “few” means.  I did not get my notice of oath until 4 weeks after the interview.

Every field office and case is different.  Expecting uniformity will lead to disappointment.

I guess I was comparing myself with people who had their oath ceremonies done on the same day of the interview.

But you hit the nail on the head - each field office and case is different. I guess I was just getting a little bit anxious.

Thank you for your advise.

Hi, I had N-400 interview on Jan 6th,2021, too. I was with Atlanta Field Office. and I am still waiting for the Oath Ceremony to be scheduled.

Did you request a name change? I do, and I was told that name change will take longer since I will need a judicial ceremony. I read a lot on other forums rgds oath ceremony schedule with a name change, some people had to wait abt 9 months.

Hi,

Congratulations on your interview. I have not requested for any name change.

Hopefully our oath ceremonies are not too far away.

Are you waiting on the final approval or on the oath ceremony? Those are 2 different waits. If you are waiting for the approval, they have 120 days. If you are waiting on the ceremony letter, it greatly varies.
Norfolk was doing administrative ceremonies when the federal courts in Virginia shut down. I don't think they ever done on the spot ceremonies.
My original ceremony was one of the first ones to be cancelled last year and it took them several months to switch to administrative ceremonies.

Between Covid, change in government and the increase in applications due to the last price increase, it may take a while.

Based on what you wrote - I think I am waiting for the final approval - because my N-652 says " Congratulations! Your application is recommended for approval...and then after a few more words it says "If final approval is granted, you will be notified when and where to report for the Oath Ceremony".

So I guess there's nothing I need to/can do for the next 120 days (or whatever is left of it since the day of my interview).

I am in the same boat. I had my interview early in January and was approved. Since then it just shows as we placed you in line for an oath.

At my FO in KCMO, it used to be that you'd be placed in the subsequent month's oath. but I fear this will be another biometrics like wait. I waited 9.5 months for biometrics and finally got reuse. I just dread trying to call them again after months of waiting with no change.
