My wife and step son have been waiting for over a year for the green card interview. They reapplied for the Advance parole and work authorization card , this would be the second time as the first one expired since its good for one year only. Today only the work authorization was sent with no advance parole. Has anyone had this happen? Were trying to figure out what happened to the advance parole? Anyone had this happen? filled out I-131 and I797

Were both forms filed together to the Chicago Lockbox? Did both have IOE or MSC case numbers?

Yes they were both mailed together. I have an IOE number for the I-131 it was sent November 20th. I was just surprised they were processed seperate,  would have been nice to have one card like what was sent out the first time. One card thats both employment and Advance parole in all in one.

It's rare, but it has happened before.

so when they process the advance parole application, will we get another card to travel? or is it a paper?

Paper.

Look on your card and read it in it's entirety. The advanced parole is usually on the EAD card and a combo. Most times it is NOT a seperate card. It usually is written at the bottom of the card that it is AP also.

Yes I read the card at the bottom is says " Not valid for Reentry to U.S." , it only an employment authorization. We were expecting the combo card , were still waiting for the other

Yeah once they get around to approving the I-131 you will receive a paper advance parole.

This is an example of what it looks like (this specific one is for DACA, so the text will differ for an AOS applicant):

Thank you this is what I wanted to see, this is helpfull. Like I said this is our 2nd time renewing both of these as we are still waiting on AOS. Now we know we will be getting a paper like this for the advance parole once they process the I-131.
