I am nearing 2 months now with no NOA1 and they signed for my package upon receiving it. I am desperate to get this NOA1 as I have not seen my fiancé in 1.5 years. From what I understand people who are in the same boat and have called only get the runaround. What recourse do we have if any if calling does nothing?

Yeah this is a total failure on behalf of the USCIS. They either need to begin to quickly clear the backlog or simply say that they are not capable of processing K1 anymore so people can plan their futures. We are US citizens petitioning the government so that we can begin a family, there should be more attention and respect for our process!

Not sure what the connection here is.  You know that NOA1 is simply a receipt notice, right?

I has nothing to do with enabling anyone to travel.

ya but, doesn't it initiate the waiting process? making our petition go from "delivered" to "processing?"

Nope.  Even pre-covid, the petition isn't 'processed' until the very end of the wait time.  In 2018, we got our NOA1 in February, and the petition was not looked at until August.

Is there any single person that filed in November that got an NOA1? It seems to me they simply stopped opening new petitions. The more they wait, the bigger the backlog gets, so I hope they hire more workers or work longer hours to clear it up or else it will never be cleared!

In almost all the cases I am seeing, no, the checks are not being cashed. This is a systemic issue at the lockboxes, and not only related to K1's.

I think it is more a matter of a little peace of mind knowing "something" has been done.

Yes, that makes sense.  But, the way the questions was phrased it seemed like she thought the NOA1 had something to do with travel or adjudicating the petition, which it does not.
