Despite previous claims that he presided over the "greatest economy in the history of our country," Trump's economic legacy was crippled in the last year of his term because of the coronavirus.

The jobs report released by U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on January 8 shows his employment record will be the worst in modern American history.

he didnt create it. the economy was already growing before he took over. something that people conveniently forget.

You're definitely correct.  The economy was definitely rolling along before.  And, of course, as the unemployment rate gets lower, it will definitely slow down.  This is simply a mathematical necessity.  He did preside over a great economy and we can debate how much credit he deserves; but there is no way to act like COVID didn't cause the current loss of jobs.

the thing about science is, it changes as you get more data and more understanding. the screaming ratfaces keep saying things like the scientists were wrong, they lied to everyone, we shut down for nothing..... but the reality is they were reacting to the data they had at the time, and as their understanding evolved, so did their recommendations. noone was prescient enough to see how it would happen or what is happening now.

people who dont understand this, really dont understand science. in a lot of ways it applies to climate change as well.

there wont be another shutdown because the science has evolved and we know more now than we did 8 months ago. it would certainly help if people would wear masks, but i dont see people doing that either because reasons.

Well, that's incredibly disingenuous.  If you were to fairly judge Trump on the economy, you have to look at the pre-COVID numbers.  Unless you aren't interested in fairness.

Remember the calls to shut down the economy?  We had to shut everything down to save lives.  Now you're going to complain that shutting everything down costs jobs?

To summarize:  If Trump doesn't shut down the economy, he's wrong.  If he shuts down the economy, he's wrong.  If he wants to reopen everything, he's wrong.  And now, if we lost jobs during the shutdown, he's wrong.

The article clearly states the reason 3 million jobs were lost so there is transparency.

Who needs the article to tell us why? We saw the shutdowns, we know why.

You didn't need a shutdown to slow travel, dining, cruising and conventions. Common sense kicked in for most.

Those shutdowns occurred, according to the states/cities specifically because they weren't slowing, I was told. So I don't know where you got the idea that common sense kicked in. People had little idea what common sense was.
