It doesn't seem to me that thousands of additional employees need to show up.   They need to use the employees they do have to ramp up interviews more.  I'm going through the Nairobi embassy and they issued 27 IR1/CR1 VISAs in December of 2020 and 105 IR1/CR VISAs in December of 2019.   They are doing a very small fraction of what they normally do.

I just returned from Uganda a few weeks ago and COVID is nothing there compared to here in the US.  Everything is open over there, so it makes no sense that they aren't doing even 1/2 of what they normally do.

Someone needs to give them a swift kick to get moving on interviews.  Since Biden is now their boss, he's the best guy to do the kicking.

I agree. Consulates have been saying "can't resume routine services due to local conditions" for about a year now, that's not all true... Local conditions have been back to normal for at least half a year, everything's open, everyone's working, most cities all over China has 0 existing covid cases, yet the consulate refuses (or doesn't have the go ahead from DoS) to do more than the ridiculously tiny amount of work they're doing. Covid is not a convincing excuse. Is covid especially bad in the consulate? Maybe, it is technically American soil:lol:

Trouble is nobody outside of China knows what is going on, WHO were refused entry.

This is the topic that seems to be being swept under the rug.  There's quite alot talk about citizenship paths for illegal immigrants, but nobody is talking about how jacked up and gummed up the I-130 process is right now for all of us doing things the proper and legal way.  The current timelines are getting pretty ridiculous.   One executive order from Biden ordering these embassies to ramp up interviews is all it would take.

I concur. The process is so broken that it is almost more attractive to just do things illegally rather than legally. I am not advocating criminal activity, just saying that those of us who follow the laws seem to get left out in the wind.

Specifically, I’m interested in the part about receiving subsidies for a health insurance plan purchased off an exchange.

Until that part clears up, and the covid pandemic ends (or we get vaccinated), I’m pausing our immigration process, which is now at NVC.

The CO can ask about health insurance if the interview is after ~ Feb. 14: https://www.aila.org/advo-media/issues/all/healthcare-insurance-proclamation "On December 31, 2020, the Ninth Circuit reversed the district court injunction of the Healthcare Proclamation (PP 9945) in the Doe, et al., v. Trump, et al., litigation, finding that the proclamation was within the president’s executive authority. Even with this decision, the injunction will remain in place until the mandate issues (approximately 45 days from December 31, 2020)."

After entry to the US with the IV, could still sign up for ACA subsidies if eligible (also immigrating opens a Special Enrollment period). PP 9945 is specifically about US entry.
