Hi all,

Thank you for this very helpful tread.  Those of you who have already applied, how did you pay for the I-130 filing (mailed to the consulate)?  We were told that only US cashiers checks , US dollar money orders, and bank checks issued by a German bank in US dollars drawn on a US bank are accepted..  none of these seem easy in Germany, short of having someone mail a cashiers check/ money order to us from the US.. would appreciate any tips you have on this one. Thanks in advance!

I got a bank check issued by my German bank in US dollars drawn on a US bank. Call or mail your bank, ask to get in contact with their department of foreign affairs ('Auslandsabteilung'). It'll then be an 'Auslandsüberweisung' with the 'Ausführungsart Scheckziehung'. Will take about 1-2 weeks for them to get it to you.

A random person at the counter won't know what you want.

Or just get a US cashiers check mailed to you from any US person you know.

Hello All,

I do have a question regarding the exceptional circumstances.

What reason did you all file for? Was it all because of job relocation? Any Military cases involved? Or also medical issues?

On the UCSIS website it’s not quiet clear what reasons would count or would get approved. It seems more like a case by case situation and depending on the person who processes the case.

I guess that’s why not many filing for DCF, because they’re unsure if they would be eligible.

And also what evidence or explanation was enough to get it approved.

We are at the beginning of our process and were always wondering if we could file for DCF. But since we were unsure and didn’t know if it would be approved and then again filing for regular process, we didn’t do it yet.

That would be really great to know some of you experiences.

Thanks already!

Hello.

I am applying for a job relocation. My job offer should come any day. Typically the company sends out the job offer in an e-mail.  Is this enough proof for them? Or do they need a letter or memo from the company with the job offer?

Thanks!

All of those are possibilities.  You do need to live (have legal residency in that foreign country) with your spouse.

USCIS doesn't approve DCF via International Field Offices anymore as most have been closed.  They are all handled at the Department of State at the consulate now.

Email the consulate with your documented exceptional circumstance and see what happens.

Yes, we got accepted for DCF in Frankfurt last November. My wife submitted the I-130 petition on December 7 and it got approved on January 19. We submitted package 3 yesterday and hope to get some answer within 30 days, but we will see.

Hi!

May I know if all documents you sent for the I-130 were translated to English?

Thanks!

All documents must be in English or the local language of the consulate.

For I-130, our German evidence for bonafide marriage (e.g. shared utility bills, liability insurance, car insurance) was accepted.

For Packet 3 (you mentioned the police certificate), official guidelines state that they accept documents in both German and English. See the first page of the pdf that’s on the page you quoted.

See above on my experience regarding translations in Frankfurt.

Yes, I have translated all the documents to English. The translations do not have to be done by an official translator, but it requires a statement that your English skills are sufficient.

Hey there,

anyone else file their I-130 IR1/CR1 in Frankfurt as a DCF (exceptional circumstances)? It's really difficult to find timelines of others who are in a similar position. We're hoping to receive the visa within 3-4 months. Any advice from those who are further along in their journey?

For others who are looking to request an exception to file directly in Frankfurt: The e-mail addresses listed on the USCIS and Consulate websites are NOT correct. You'll want to contact frnuscisinquiries@state.gov with proof of the exceptional circumstance. A reply will take about 2 weeks.

Cheers!

Hey! I am just starting the  DCF process and was wondering what you wrote as the subject when you sent your email? I know they can be picky on other government emails and I don't want to waste any time by sending something they won't look at.

Thanks!

We also got approved for DCF in Frankurt.

However, we are still waiting for the confirmation of our i130 withdrawal at USCIS before we can officialy start the process with the consulate. Hope that comes sooner than later...

Would be nice if you could keep us updated. Good luck!

So you applied at USCIS first then switched to consulate?? Did you have to pay the fee again?

Yes. But it really doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things ;)

Hi!

i just wanted to ask with regard to the “Proof of U.S. federal income tax returns: The most recent IRS-generated transcript of the most recent U.S. Federal Income Tax Return (1040) and W2s are required from all U.S. citizen sponsors/ joint sponsors. A person may obtain a free IRS-generated transcript by filing IRS Form 4506-T (Form IRS-4506-T) with IRS, Request for transcript of Tax Return.”

… does the transcript need to be a hard copy coming from the IRS or would the downloadable and printable form coming from IRS suffice?

thank you for the clarification… ☺️
