Do they keep original documents?

Do they keep any of the original documents they require you to bring? I am a dual citizen and one of the documents I'll need to bring is my Australian Citizenship Certificate. It costs $190 and takes about 15 days + postage to get an extra certificate which I'll get if that's a thing they do.

Far from a silly question.

 

They will if you only bring only the original and not a copy (front and back sides too). And if they take the original you will never get it back.

 

Bring the original and its copy. Leave the copy. Take the original with you when you leave the interview.

Thank you so much. I'm glad not to have to go through the fuss of ordering an extra copy. I remember seeing a post from someone whose originals had been lost and that made me worry.

They hand it back to you at the interview.
