Hi all VJ members,

I am in a weird situation here. I just filed for K1 I-129F petition for my fiancee on 6/27/07. She need me to be back in Vietnam so we can get marry sometime before the ending of the year. I would like to make this process as quick as possible. Can I get this done in 6 months. I've filed to the Vermont Service Center. I know it's quicker than Calfornia Service Center. We are both Vietnamese. My situation is that I am unemployed at the moment for about 6 months and I am looking for a job. I have a some money in savings, IRA and stocks plus I own my own house with a mortage for about 7 more years. What do I need to show that I can support my fiancee? I have heard there are some ways around this? I am finanically stable. I'm hoping to get a job soon, but I don't want this to be a delay in my K1 process.WHat about the co-sponser and how does that work? I have a sister who is married and does well at her job. Can I use her as a co -sponser in the meantime? Please Advice. Thank you all.

You can use a co sponsor, K-visas co-sponsor is only supporting from time of entry until AOS, unless they decide to also help bu being a joint sponsor for the AOS.

Note: K-1 is for entry and marriage in the USA, not marriage in foreign country, your post is not clear sounds like marriage in Vietnam.

"She need me to be back in Vietnam so we can get marry sometime before the ending of the year."

There is no predicting on how long it will take, you can get a good estimate by using the time lines, just use K-1 advance, and filter for Vietnam.

My fiancee want me to have a wedding party for her but it's not a actually married agreement on paper of any kind.Just a wedding party. We are not marry.Just filing K1 to get marry in the US. Base on my saving ,stocks IRA and owning a house would that be empty to support her? Having over 60K of Liquird cash would that cut it? Just wondering. Hopefully I will be employ soon and will have a steady income. Will not having a job effect my K1 process when it comes down to Affidavit of Support?

Thanks for reply.......

Most consular officers are more concerned with INCOME, the assets are only considered as a bridge to cover an income short fall. Also assets are valued at 1/3 of income, so 3000 asset only count as 1000 of income.

I would recommend having a co-sponsor to at least help with the K-1 visa, after that when you do adjust status, you may be in a better financial position to be solo sponsor.

Vietnam07,

Preferably a job. If you've been out of work for 6 months now, think seriously about being less picky about the kind of work you'll do until after the visa is issued. The poverty level is really a rather low hurdle, you should be able to find something that will make you a suitable sponsor, and in the meantime you can continue looking for something you really want.

Vietnam,

Then stop saying you're going to get married in Vietnam. One of these days you'll say it to the wrong person who will make it a lot harder to your fiancee to get the visa than it already is.

Hehe, before end of this year. It's kind of superstition? But it's nice to hear, just like me.

Kevin and I did celebrate party for our engagement but did like a wedding, it's for my family and friends here in Vietnam.

Take pic of it... It will be your good evidence.

Kevin also hired a lawyer there too. And now he is doing for AoS. Ron who does it said he will done all on next Tuesday.

Next week, Kevin will bring all our stuffs for our lawyer to review to make sure before he fly back Vietnam.

You can use your mom and dad as co-sponsor. Try to find a job as soon as, dont to picky with job. At least your fiancee can show you have a job and make money.

Good Luck!

Hang and Kevin
