If you really don't want to do ROC and spend the money in 2 years, call and ask to be rescheduled. You can say you have a fever, they will have to reschedule. It can be less than 1 month later (which I doubt), or it can take 6 months.

You just have to accept the risk.

This is really bad advice, so many people have not received their NOA for the rescheduled interview. There is a thread currently in which OP received the interview letter the day after it was scheduled! This can become a giant headache. ROC is annoying but most of the time it's straightforward. Not worth potentially missing your interview and delaying receiving a green card.

There's no such thing as bad or good advice in this case. I presented the option OP was looking for but also talked about the risks involved. It's up to them to do it or not.

Op, don't go the rescheduling route. Bad idea. Immigration policies and priorities could change on a whimp and you could find yourself waiting long or not for another interview date. Plus hey, pandemic is still getting worse despite the vaccine.

So I have been reading and I have a question.. My interview date is on February 8th, that is a month from my 2 year anniversary... will I still get the 2 year conditional green card or? It just doesn’t seem fair that I get that if technically we are already married for 2 years it’s just 3 weeks away from that point.. any experience in this?

I understand you. I think if you enter the US after your 2 yr anniversary your green card will arrive in the mail as unconditional. I wouldn't be worried.

The OP is adjusting status.......not entering the US with an immigrant visa.  A 10 year card will be issued if the Green Card is approved after 2 years of marriage.

I dont know if it was mentioned in the thread yet but you can ask in the interview for them to hold approval on your case until the 2yr mark has passed. Its a courtesy they sometimes do but they are not obligated to do so. Hopefully you get a friendly and helpful Officer who is willing to do such, sometimes they even offer it w/o you asking.

Thank you!! I will definitely ask that if the officer is a friendly person and they don’t ask me! The worst that can happen is they say no 😂 oh well!

Also while I’m here.. does anyone else know what to bring to the interview for the sponsor if they are retired? Bc he is getting income from social security monthly and he draws a big sum from his retirement that is his own money he invested and he usually does that mid Feb and my interview is Feb 8th so idk what kind of financial doc to bring... I guess few months of bank statements? He doesn’t get paystubs or W2s

I wouldn’t even ask at the interview to delay your approval — green card approval can take time as it is now. If the approval takes long, you’d enter a myriad of other issues. What would you do, for example, if the approval takes long and your EAD is expired? Yes, you can renew it, but that’s a hassle in and off itself. You do you, but I wouldn’t mess with it.

I can see you approval was a month away from the interview? was there a specific reason?

Well i discussed this with my husband and he said he would ask at the end and see tho my interview and 2 years anniversary are 1month apart i highly doubt to begin with that he would hold of for a whole month... Maybe if it was 1-2weeks but i don’t think so!

I will just go with the flow and if not i will just do it again in 2 year no big deal!

My work permit expires in May!

I will come back after my interview and leave my experience for others!

ra0010's March interview was canceled because of the pandemic. So she was approved without an interview:

Oh wow! Reading my own post a couple of months later and with everything that’s going on seems surreal lol.

But yeah, our interview got waived.
