Is anyone open to sharing mellowish Spotify playlists? I'm a big fan of modern psych/beach goth which tends towards the mellow (plus straight up garage), and I am happy to curate a good list of something more chill than aggressive.

For me the ultimate chill album is Jobim's Stone Flower. Might be a little too "lounge" for some people but I love it.

You should try to visit South Africa. It is a great place and I miss it a lot. We are doing all the tourist things in SK right now... the weather is so good!

Giving way to much personal information 😅... but I enjoy running in below freezing temps... 

I think the husband is underselling the US because he wants to move to SA.

Ahhh! The better question is do you have spikes for your shoes in icy conditions?

 

He's probably just apprehensive about surviving those MI winters...again!  The way I see it - you've always got options.  You can always petition his residency in SA if you decide winter is no longer palatable or, if you like the states, move south.  

 

I want to visit SA.  I have some friends from there that moved to Canada.  Two of them describing their first time out in -40°C conditions in northern Alberta is one of the funniest stores ever!  They do miss home, but the entire family (matriarch, patriarch, brother, sister and some cousins) all moved, so they have each other and no shortage of individuals to teach the Canadian born children Afrikaans.

Trying to teach the husband Afrikaans so we can be a truly multi-lingual family. We already speak Korean and English to each other.

I'm from northern Ohio originally. Anastasia is from about five hundred miles east and a little north of Moscow.

I've lived in San Diego for twenty years, Anastasia for three.

Our two-year old son saw snow live for the first time last week ... in a little spot that hadn't melted off yet in a golf course near the mountains half an hour or so from Denver.

I'm a reverse of most of you. Grew up in the bug infested, humid swamps of FL. Hated every second of it. Lived in the dreary cold of Russia and loved it. I despise bugs. I love seasons. I love snow. I love watching actual flowers bloom after a cold season. The fact that fall leaves actually change color still blows my mind. To me, this is how it's supposed to be and I was deprived my whole childhood. Living in some place with endless heat and sun feels alien, despite that I was born and raised in that. I guess some of us from birth just know where we belong. For me, it's a colder climate for sure!

We don't really have the bugs or much humidity (not insanely dry ala Denver, but much dryer than Florida) in SoCal, if that helps 🤣

SoCal is where it's at.  Except its expensive.  San Diego is one of my fav places to go.  

 

I like 4 seasons.  I really do.  Houston has 2 seasons: devil's sweaty ball sack and not summer.  It's gross so I can relate to the yuckiness of FL.  The problem with back home is the winter lasts for bloody ever.  I did eventually move to Calgary and is ok because it chinooks. However, Jan or Feb are usually miserable deep freeze months and I just have no desire to dress like a marshmallow person to go outside and have my breath sucked out of me.  When it's -8°C and we can be in the mountains tubing at Norquay or skating in Banff, sure, that's the winter I like.  But -30°C with a windchill of -52°C is utter and total garbage.

Are you ready for mid 90° temps this weekend?  It's only freaking MAY!  What the actual deuce?!

 

This Canuck would love to winter where it's warm and summer in Canadia.  

 

Side note: I have a friend from MI who used to call me the weird Canadian from Canadia. He couldn't say much...I mean he was from Marquette. That's practically Canada!
