Many thanks to you all for sharing your experiences with naturalization application on Visajourney. Here, I would like to report that my immigration journey officially ended yesterday.

The following is my timeline:

• March 18, N-400 was submitted online (Denver Field Office).
• March 19, the receipt notice and the notice of biometric reuse appeared in my account.
• October 12, the interview was scheduled for November 15 and the notice showed up in my account as well.
• November 15, attended the interview in the afternoon and passed the interview. The immigration officer was very nice and professional, and the interview went quite smoothly. However, due to a system issue, the IO was not able to approve my application on the spot. 
• November 16, my application was recommended for approval and then my case status changed to "oath ceremony was scheduled".
• November 26, received the oath ceremony notice in mail.
• November 30, took my oath of allegiance at the naturalization ceremony and received the certificate of naturalization. At the end of the day, my case status changed to "Certificate of Naturalization was Issued".

Congratulations! Did you apply based on 3yr or 5yr rules? Also, what was your estimated time of case decision before you were scheduled for an interview? I’m also a Denver filer, thanks!

Mine is based on the 5yr rule. If I recall correctly, the estimated time kept rising from 9 months to 13 months. Based off the reading of other posts on the forum and my own experience, the estimated time isn't quite accurate and it could vary significantly from person to person.

Thanks for the info. I applied May 14th 2021 under 5yr rule. I completed biometric the 9th of September and ever since, my case is being actively reviewed by USCIS. Estimated time of case decision says 5 months as of yesterday.

Hello VJ Family,

 

I had my inter view today and it went well and smooth. I passed all the exams. He asked me about DUI and he said you had one DUI and I said yes officer, then he asked me date of incident and court dates. I gave all and then he said its ok as long as you didn't hurt anyone or killed , I said no. he said mistakes happen in life. 

 

He asked me my name, date of birth and present address. 

He asked me my employment history and education. 

He asked me about Tax returns

He asked me to show Court final orders and disposition letter for DUI

 

Then he said I can not make final decisions at this time because you have DUI and you are in stationary period but I will recommend your file for an approval and my boss has to give final words and you will be notified by the end of the day or by mail. It took only 10 minutes only.

 

Waiting period for the final result.

I filed end of March online and my interview was scheduled today, December 2nd at Charlotte NC at 940 AM.  The interview lasted for about 20 minutes and the immigration officer was friendly and kind. He went over the questions in the application form and went over quickly the questions that has yes or no answers. It is very important to pay attention because the questions can be tricky.  

 

Questions that were asked. I don't remember the exact wordings.

1. Who signs the bill? 

2. If the president can no longer serve, who will become the president?

3. If both president and vice president can no longer serve, who will become the president?

4. What are the 2 major political parties?

5. Who is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court?

6. What nationalities were taken to the US as slaves?

 

He told me, congratulations you passed and if I want to come back for the oath taking at 230pm, it is a same-day oath if you choose to.

 

My immigration journey officially ended today and truly grateful for the opportunity!

Congratulations. I went for mines today but I was told that my file wasn’t there and they’ll have to reschedule it again. That’s 6 hrs worth of driving. He said he doesn’t know why they didn’t do it when I did my removal of conditions

Hey @applerose sorry to hear that. This is probably a typo on VJ but your citizenship timeline says your interview was scheduled for 12/01 but you said you went today? Hopefully you didn’t confuse the dates, unlikely but just I was just wondering.

On October 28 they scheduled it for December 1 but then November they de-scheduled it and gave me December 3. I forgot to update that.
