Hi Everyone,

My case has been at NVC since July. The embassy in Addis is just now starting to resume fiance and spousal interviews. I had called NVC and got my case number so I can check my case on the CEAC and it still says At NVC. My question is- I never received any packet or email from NVC. Should I have? Or do they send it after they send our petition to embassy? Is there something I am missing? I don't know what we're supposed to be doing other than waiting.

Thanks.

I am experiencing the same thing. My case was sent to NVC months ago and I spoke with NVC on the phone and they said I just have to wait for the embassy to open and that it isn’t open yet.

I should mention I also never received any email or actual mail. All the website says is at NVC.

The current process is that your case upon approval from USCIS goes to NVC whereupon the assign a case number. NVC does not communicate with the petitioner until the case is requested by the embassy and sent to the embassy. Until that activity happens you will not receive any correspondence on "what's next" till the embassy is open and conduction K-1 interviews. Because there is a backlog for most embassies, we are seeing the embassy request "first in first out" cases to the embassy. Where your place is in line is not published information and therefor you will need to wait till you are contacted by your embassy.

The work around is to call NVC and get your case number to follow the status on ceac.state.gov.

We talk about this in the monthly threads for NOA2 to NVC to Embassy where you are with others who are process their visa. I have written a PDF file that outlines everything you should or can do at this stage.

Join us in one of those threads based on when you received your NOA2. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports - VisaJourney
