Traveling from the US to Sweden during the pandemic as a partner to a Swedish citizen.

I'm engaged to a U.S. citizen and we're in the K1 visa process. I'm from Sweden and we want him to come and visit me here, but with travel being the way it is right now I'm hoping that there's others on here that might have some experience with this...

There are currently no direct flights between the US and Sweden. He's an exemption to the travel restrictions against people coming from the US into Sweden because he has a family connection to me since we have plans to get married in the future, but airlines and other countries in Europe seem to have their own rules concerning layovers. What I heard before is that the safest bet is to travel with SAS to Copenhagen and then from there to Stockholm and that many people have done this without a problem. But Sweden has a ban on travel from Denmark now, including if you've only had a layover there. So we've been talking about trying for him to fly with KLM to Amsterdam and then from there to Stockholm...

My question is if there's anyone on here that has had any experience with this and can tell me what it was like for them getting on the plane, having the layover in Amsterdam and so on? Was there any problems or did everything go smoothly?

Any other places anyone has had layovers in going to Sweden, especially as a partner to a Swedish citizen, would also be helpful.

I have booked a trip to see my fiance in Gothenburg for March. I am flying to Ireland, Amsterdam, Gothenburg. I will need to take a covid test within 72 hours of my flight to Ireland, and a rapid test at Ireland Airport for the Amsterdam connection (covid test required within 24 hours even for connecting flights)

I can let you know how it goes.

That would be great, thank you. ❤️

My trip went smooth.  I took my carona test results in hand and went through Dublin, Helsinki and finally into Sweden.  Just make sure the tests are valid within 48 hours of arrival to Sweden.  Coming back was easy.  You just need a negative test within 3 days of arrival.

I noticed on SAS website that they had listed some "partners" through whom you can take the pre-trip Covid test in Sweden, Denmark and Norway if you fly with me. Of course now SAS haven't flown the direct route between CPH and LAX for a year. How much did it cost for you, @Vanessa2020 to get a test in Sweden without being a resident?

I'm trying to sort out my itinerary to go see my parents in Finland after my second dose of vaccination, but for Finland SAS did not provide any "testing partners". Over there a pre-travel PCR test ahead of return to the US seems to cost a whopping €200-250 ($235-295).

Getting there, slowly but surely...  (I hope )

When USCIS Misspells Your Name:

Typographical error form filled on USCIS website 1/4/2021
Contacted USCIS if there has been any progress since THEIR error (Received a Tier 1 tracking number) 2/6/2021
Contacted USCIS again as the issue remains to be resolved (Received ANOTHER Tier 1 tracking number) 3/12/2021
Apparently USCIS chat is worthless; CALLED USCIS, Tier 1 agent promised that a Tier 2 agent would call me 4/28/2021
Received a call from a nice Tier 2 officer who said I may or may not get a correct extension letter, but just in case I would be scheduled an InfoPASS appointment 5/4/2021
Went to local USCIS service center and had to deal with a nasty and entitled customer service agent who refused to give me an I-551 stamp. National Benefits Center is supposed to mail me another I-797 within 7-10 days... So I had to waste my day, taking buses for two hours one-way just to deal with this lady's attitude? 5/7/2021

After anxiously monitoring our mailbox for a few days I DID receive a corrected I-797, w00t! All documents good to go Vaccinated Ready to visit my parents in Europe for the first time in 17 months!!  5/13/2021

The lesson: Don't use the chat for anything complicated, AND keep hassling USCIS for a response...

I could have taken the rapid corona test in Sweden for 700 kronor but opted to take the rt pcr test and it cost 1500 kronor.  We found many testing facilities by looking online. SAS doesn't seem to have many flights as of yet.  I flew United, Finnair and on the way home Lufthansa.
