W-2 and paystub gross income question

My final paystub of 2020 said I made a little over $31,000 but my 2020 W-2s which just became available says I made a little over $28,500. Why the discrepancy and which number should I put down in my updated I-864 as my 2020 income?

Also, I haven't yet filed taxes for 2020 but seeing as I now have the W-2s for that year, can I put 2020 down as my most recent year of income in part 6 of the I-864?

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I looked around on the forums and couldn't find any answers.

"Current" income means your expected income for the current calendar year. You won't have much evidence to back this up this early in the year, but include whatever you can. This is from the USCIS instructions: "You may include evidence supporting your claim about your expected income for the current year if you believe that submitting this evidence will help you establish ability to maintain sufficient income. You are not required to submit this evidence, however, unless specifically instructed to do so by a U.S. Government official. For example, you may include a recent letter from your employer, showing your employer’s address and telephone number, and indicating your annual salary. You may also provide pay stubs showing your income for the previous six months. If your claimed income includes alimony, child support, dividend or interest income, or income from any other source, you may also include evidence of that income."

Current Annual Income means the income calculated based in a one year period, not necessarily the current year. Which means: whatever is stated on their employment letter: (salary) or their weekly rate*52.

For example, if someone started a job in November and file for AOS the next day, their annual income will still be calculated based in a 1 year period according to their hourly, weekly/monthly rate or their salary, and not what's left in the calendar year.

When they talk about Current Year, they're talking about evidence that can be submitted, which will most likely show expected salary for that year, or paystubs showing how much they're making on a weekly/biweekly/monthly rate.

Nevermind about the first question, I just found the answer to that one. Still wondering about the last question though about part 6 of the I-864.

Total Incomes is what's on the tax return. If you didn't file it yet, you don't have that number. The most recent tax year is still 2019.

For Current Annual Income write down whatever number is on your employment letter or if hourly, calculate based on how many hours you work per week times 52.
