My i-485 just got updated to "Case Is Ready To Be Scheduled For An Interview"! I don't know how significant that is because I presume it's the national centre saying 'yes the application is good' but now we have to wait for the local office (Albany, NY) to have availability?  Anyone know?

I'm excited by this change in status but reeeeeeeally wish my EAD would be approved.  How is everyone else getting along?

Ours also got updated yesterday to show the same message! Our Priority Date is 2020-12-07. I believe it's now up to your field office to actually schedule the interview and the estimates for that can be found here: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/. Spoiler alert, it's not pretty. Searching around a bit, it's not uncommon for applications to spend over a year waiting for the interview to actually be scheduled. The good news is that our applications have passed the initial completeness/sanity check.

From the Lawfully app, it looks like a lot of people got their i-693 deficiency notice yesterday... I'd love to know how things are processed at the USCIS, it's fascinating.  For instance, if they've looked at our applications to say it's ready to schedule interview, why don't they just hit the EAD approval button??  Go on, just hit it!!!

Is there anyone here in December 2020 filers who’s also waiting for Biometrics appointment? I haven’t received biometrics appointment yet till  now and it keeps me anxious. They received our application 12/17/20 and got all our NOA’s 1/5/21, but nothing next after

Hey,
Your filing is probably just ticking through the process, from all my reading this whole thing takes an extra helping of patience.
I recently tried the lawfully app, someone mentioned it earlier in this thread actually... quite convenient for tracking, information and estimations!
What's your file date and location etc?

If it makes you feel better, we filed in September and no BIOM yet.  Hoping they reuse hers from January 2020 but nothing yet.

Good day! I hope you are all having a good start of the year.

I can't find a timeline/progress discussion for December 2020 filers so I created one.

I know it's too early to create a thread like this but seeing someone whose application is moving makes me hopeful and at peace.

For anyone who filed their AOS application in December 2020, please feel free to share your progress in this thread!

Thank you and good luck to all of us!

Our journey so far for concurrent filing of I-130 & I-485 with I-765 & I-131:

Current Visa: B2

Service Center: NBC

ASC: San Diego, CA

Priority Date: 12/21/2020

2020

12/16/2020: Send packet via UPS

12/21/2020: Chicago Lockbox received the packet

2021

01/05/2020: Credit card charged for I-130 & I-485

01/11/2020: Received e-notification via text message

01/15/2020: Received NOA for all of the forms // NOA dated: Jan. 09, 2021

Just an update on my case:

2021

02/20/2021: Biometrics Appointment Letter date

03/03/2021: I did an expedite request for I-765 despite of not having a biometrics appointment yet. I chatted EMMA and requested for a live agent. The agent created the request without asking me if I'm already done with biometrics. (I read this from many people doing expedite, doing an expedite request even w/o bio appt triggers the scheduling of bio).

03/04/2021: I got the biometrics appointment notice in the mail. Appt is for 03/19/21.

03/05/2021: I tried to do early walk-in to my ASC for bio, but San Diego is very strict about the appointment schedule. (Note that some ASCs are accepting early walk-ins as long as they have their appointment letter) - This is just me being impatient and for doing nothing everyday for the last six months :D

03/15/2021: I received a mail from USCIS that they can't expedite the I-765 yet because I haven't done the biometrics yet. Told me to submit another once I'm done with biometrics.

03/19/2021: Biometrics done for I-485 and I-765

03/20/2021: Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken (I-485 & I-765)

**For I-765**

03/22/2021: I did another expedite request for I-765 but unfortunately the agent made an error, instead of creating a new expedite request, he just gave me the old reference. I didn't realized it until 03/30/21. I was wondering why the status of my I-765 didn't change to Expedite Request Received, so I checked my first ref for ExpReq and voila, it's the same! (This was late afternoon so maybe he's already tired). Typically the status of I-765  will change to Expedite Request Received a day after you filed the request.

03/30/2021: I contacted USCIS again via emma for an expedite request to I-765. This time, the agent was very friendly and was replying super fast (this was early morning). The agent filed a new ExpReq and gave me a new reference ID. She told me that the last agent that I talked to didn't file for a request. 10 days was wasted but thankfully I realized it sooner.

03/31/2021: I-765 status changed to Expedite Request Received

04/01/2021: I received an email from USCIS that I need to fax them supporting documents regarding my request (I filed under financial loss).

04/02/2021: I faxed a 66 pages supporting documents. I mainly submitted documents that I (alone) are having financial loss and not our household (me and husband).

  • 2 pages for a cover letter, stating my current situation. I pointed out 3 factors why they should approve my request;
    • 1. Under financial loss
    • 2. Humanitarian Reason (I am supporting my father's medical expenses)
    • 3. USCIS Error (when the agent didn't file another ExpReq on 03/22/21).
  • A summary of my monthly expenses ever since I entered US (08/01/2020)
  • My bank statements (bank from my home country) since 08/01/2020

04/09/2021: Request for Additional Information Received (I-765)

04/12/2021: New Card is being produced (early morning) -- I still don't know if this will be a combo card, but typically when you expedited I-765 your I-131 will also be approved (if you applied for it).

**For I-485**

04/05/2021: Case is Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview - No RFE yet, hopefully I don't receive one since I submitted I-693 together with I-485.

Now, I am patiently waiting for the EAD to arrive. :D

Congratulations!!  And thanks for sharing.

I really wish it wasn't necessary to expedite an EAD to get it in 4 months!!

How do you talk to a live agent through Emma?  She drives me crazy!  When I ask to talk to someone she tells me to rephrase the question and when I ask for requirements to expedite the EAD she repeatedly sends me to the wrong page!!  And when I have spoken to an agent on the phone, they didn't fill me with confidence that they'd be able to help with a more complicated question.

Use one of these two

"Live Representative" or "Infopass"

Then select Case Status

Enter your receipt number

For the question Expedite Request

Sometimes it doesn't work and that is because too many people are in the queue. Try after some interval

Lifting Conditions

2018-09-20 - I-751 filed with Vermont Service Center
2020-10-27 - Interview Date
2020-10-30 - Approval Date

Citizenship

CIS Office - New York City NY
2019-08-05 - Filed online
2020-10-27 - Interview Date
2020-10-29 - Approved
2020-10-29 - Oath ceremony letter mailed

My combo card arrived today! Mailed by USCIS on April 15, 2021. Waiting for SSN to arrive.

I’m glad that I tried to expedite my I-765. I’m following the case number before me and his/her case is still at Fingerprints were taken since his/her bio. He/She did bio 2 weeks earlier than me but his/her case still stuck at fingerprints were taken.

Good luck guys! If you think you can do something on your case, don’t be afraid to try.

I’m happy & contented with the combo card at the moment 😂 as our marriage will be 2 years in July 2021. Looking forward to the 10yr GC rather than going through another painful & stressful process in the next 2 years.
