getting pissed of airlines companies

I just need to rant

My brother was supposed to arrive on the 26th. My parents paid (probably a fortune) so he could come from France and be my witness for the wedding.

We were originally thinking of getting married tomorrow. Thank god we changed the date, but I'm not goint to say that to the companies.

My brother took his plan which was delayed in France due to bad weather. He missed his flight to Detroit in Amstedam because of that and was forced to spend the night in the airport since they didn't even provide him an hotel.

Yesteday he left Amstedam to go to Newark (NY) where he was supposed to take a plane to NC. They canceled the ###### flight and told him he would be on the same flight the next day, gave him (at last) an hotel room.

This morning to make sure I checked for his flight. It said cancel  So I've just spend the past hour an a half calling first continental (2 cancel flights) who sent me to KLM (30 ###### minutes of holding) who sent me to Air france (one hour, 2 calls because they transferred me to a non existing servie/number).

I mananged to call my brother and let him know, he had to leave his room and he will call me from the continental companie place.

I'm just pissed, they can't get him a flight until tomorrow evening, I keep on having to repeat things. I've been telling them I'm getting married tomorrow (even of it's not true) and well now I'm just freaking out and in tears. My brother is like pissed and tired, he hasn't changed since he left France. He is even asking if he shouldn't take a bus.

I just want him here. He was supposed to be having a fun time. I want him to be with us.

i'm just stressing enough already with him meeting my fiancé and being the first one in my family to do so, and the wedding coming up and getting the papers for the AOS and all that.

I know that the companies don't have control over the weather, but for god sake 4 days to get from France to North Carolina!!! A boat would be faster at the rate it's going.

No they didn't but I asked for it and they gave me the address of the customer service. They booked him a flight in case with Delta from La Guardia Airport to here but that would be tomorrow.

And told me that he should go to the airporst and ask to be put on the waiting list in case anyone doesn't show up.

I'm going to write to the cutomer service and ask for compensation. He is tired I'm too and he should be here.

I'm just thankful my fiancé absolutely had to work tomorrow and that we had to change the wedding date or else I don't know what I would have done

Weather delays or cancells means NO compensation.... It is not unusual this time of year for the load factors to be very high with limited or no seats available. Unfortunatly they will not "bump" another passenger in order to re-accomodate another.... Frustrating I am sure....

Compensation is at the discretion of the airline. Usually, since weather-related delays are out of their control, they don't offer much.

Most US airlines are pathetic in terms of customer service. I have had really good experiences with Jet Blue and AA in the past in terms of re-routing. The best thing to do in these situations is try to get rerouted to or via other airports like DC or Richmond, in your case. Could even drive from Norfolk to NC..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

We tried to get him to fly in Charlotte, or go through whatever airport, but all the planes are full. >.>

I'm hoping we can at least get him some compensation because what should have been a fun trip to be with me is becoming a heck of a journey. I know that they can say it's not their fault, but they really haven't been very decent with him with all the ####### and well, I just want to make things better with him.

I'll ask for whatever I can get him.

Thank you though

I have learned that if you don't complain and insist on compensation you won't get it.

Ask away!!

We once wrote to the head of a Pizza Chain because at a Rolling Stones concert their "booth" charged 40$ per 12' pizza.. Yah I know it's a concert and they charge high prices for food, but the deal was they kept raising the price of the pizza every hour (the concert with other bands included was 6 hrs), it was inhumane and really horrible for a chain to do that - so we wrote to the company.

ALL of us got gift cards and apologies all around..

I know it's not an airline, but the point is.. how many others at the concert paid the rediculous prices and didn't think 2ce.. The squeeky wheel get's the grease I figure!

lol

Well my dad's been speaking with my brother who is really not feeling good about all this. Someone told him that his luggages are here at the airport O.O how can they be here when he wasn't able to get a plane? Can you explain that to me? So he is going to go 4 days wearing the same clothes. Poor sweetheart.

I know he is feeling really bad dealing with all this. I'm glad I found out early and managed to get him an other flight at least (everything's booked).

I just want him here so he can have a beer and chill with us until the marriage.

We thought about the bus or train option, but no trains come all the way to here (unless you are freight) and bus expenses wouldn't be covered by the companie, plus it's not comfy from what I heard.

I'd feel safer knowing he is checked in a hotel in NY and flying tomorrow.

did he not allow time for weather delays? That is always one of the first things that should be considered. The airlines can't control the weather and can't control the amount of passengers that want a seat on their flights.

Just because there was not an available seat on the aircraft does not mean there was not available room in the cargo hold....
