" A US consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application . Please follow any instructions provided by the consular officer. If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete, Please advised that the processing time varies and that you will be contacted if additional information is needed. "

Do you get a 221g?  If so, what was marked on it?  Unless you see the words "Returned to USCIS", it is still being processed.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

We think we have the answer. That is common reply for everyone. This is normal. They are finishing the final steps prior to issuing the visa. As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC.state.gov you must select "immigrant visa" as it is treated as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa". Once you can no longer see any information for your case using "immigrant visa" choose non-immigrant and you will see the status. When it changes from one to the other your visa is almost ready for "issue". Keep watching and when it reaches "issue" status you will soon be contacted by the Embassy to receive your passport with visa intact.

@1Higheroctave, it usually isn't over unless you see "Returned to USCIS".

You would have received a 221g at the interview.

nope, 221G  they just kept her passport but it's been over a year

Then, this is extended administrative processing.  It cannot be waived or expedited.  You have to wait it out.

If it has been over a year since the interview, there must be issues.  That is atypical.
